First Lesson: Tuesday, Dec. 18

As part of the new SB 355 requirements, Creston Middle School will be deliver the first lesson to students next week. Students will watch a brief video created by Warren counseling staff followed by a brief question and answer session. Our first focus will be on healthy boundaries and personal safety. Please see the attachment below for more information.

Band Concert Reminders:

8th Grade Rehearsal: Monday, December 17th from 3:00-4:30 p.m.

7th Grade Rehearsal: Tuesday, December 18th from 3:00-4:30 p.m.


Please pick up students near door # 1 at CMS at 4:30 p.m.


Concert Night: Wednesday, December 19th @ 7:00 p.m. at CMS auditorium


  • Students should report at 6:15 p.m. to the band room for the concert.
  • Student concert dress is Dark/black pants, performance polo, and dark/black shoes. (Polos need to be tucked in)
  • Rehearsals and concerts nights are required as part of the grade for band.

Orchestra Concert Reminders

Students should be picked up at door #1 at 4:15 pm on their respective rehearsal night.

  • Students should bring instrument and music from home
  • Concert dress is black pants and music shirt (if you have not purchased a concert shirt, they are still available for $15 in the CMS book store)

Parent Volunteers Needed for PBIS Survivor Series Competitions

We will be having our end of quarter Survivor Series Competitions next week. We are looking for parents to sign up to assist with some of our stations. If you are interested, please fill out the google form using the link below:


7th Grade Survivor Series: Thursday, December 20th from 1:15-2:40 p.m. (volunteers should arrive at 1:00 p.m. and bring driver's license for lobby guard)


8th Grade Survivor Series: Friday, December 21st from 1:15-2:40 p.m. (volunteers should arrive at 1:00 p.m. and bring driver's license fro lobby guard).

The Warren Township Council of PTSs runs this pantry that provides food, toiletries, cleaning products, school supplies and gently used clothing to families of Warren Township students.

Parents/guardians need to get a signed letter from the school to go to Sonny Day. Please contact Mrs. Jones, school counselor, at 317-532-6800 ext. 6817.

Fall Sports Update

The 7th grade boys basketball team went 1-1 last week. They defeated Franklin Township East by a score of 44-42 and lost to Westlane 42-19. Their record for the year is 8-4.


The 8th grade team defeated 4 teams (Westlane, Tindley, Franklin Township West, and Guion Creek) to win the Guion Creek Invitational. They also defeated Franklin Township East 29-20 and Westlane 70-27. Their record for the year is 13-2.


The boys basketball team will play at home next week on Tuesday and Wednesday against Raymond Park and Greenfield-Central. Games will start at 5:15 pm.


Wrestling practice had their 3rd week of practice this past week. They will continue to practice Monday through Thursdays until 5 pm before winter break. After winter break, practices will be everyday after school until 5 pm. If you are planning on participating in wrestling, you must start practicing at some point before winter break. Please email Coach Andy St. Laurent (dstlaur2@warren.k12.in.us) if you have any questions.


There will be a callout meeting for anyone interesting in swimming on December 18 at Warren Central High School. Please click the swimming link below for info about that meeting.


Track pre-season conditioning will continue on Tuesdays every week after winter break. It will be after school until 4:30 pm. Athletes staying for conditioning will be expected to ride the activity bus home on those nights. You must have a physical on file with Mr. Treesh if you are planning to stay for conditioning. Questions may be directed to Mr. Treesh, Athletic Director, or Mr. Peckham, track coach.

How important is attendance for student success?

The single most important factor for student achievement and graduation vs dropout rate is student attendance (Reid, 2006). The state of Indiana with the new ESSA Plan has defined a student with "model attendance" as missing no more than 7 days of school. Anything over 7 days is defined by the state as "chronic abseentism." We have challenged our students to do even better than that and set a goal of missing no more than 5 days of school this year.


We do understand that there are situations that arise where an absence can't be prevented. Please help communicate those reasons to the school by calling the main line at 532-6800 between 6:00-7:00 a.m. to report the absence.


Excused Absences Include:

1. Personal illness or injury (please drop off physician's notes to front desk)

2. Death in the immediate family

3. Attendance at a family funeral

4. Religious observances required by church officials

5. Serving as a page in the legislature

6. Court appearance/court detention

7. Working at polls

21st Century Scholars

The Indiana 21st Century Scholarship Program is an early commitment college promise program funded by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE), offering income-eligible Hoosier students up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana two-year and/or four-year higher education institution.



Students must be enrolled before June 30th of their 8th grade year.

P.E. Uniforms For Sale at the Bookstore

The bookstore will be open every morning before school and during P.E. classes next week for students who still need to purchase P.E. uniforms. The cost is $20 and includes a shirt, shorts, and CMS string bag.
