a note from your director

Wow, what a Spring Break!! Super busy but lots of incredible experiences for everyone!!

Let’s first start with the bands trip and performance in Hawaii!! This was truly an experience of a life time. For many people traveling to the beautiful island of Hawaii is something that they never get to experience. Our Jaguar band members not only got to travel to Hawaii, they also got to visit and experience numerous items including a full island tour, Punchbowl Cemetery, a Luau and the Arizona Memorial. In addition to getting experience all of these they were also able to provide an experience for the visitors at the Battleship Missouri by performing on the docks of this historical monument! There are only a handful of people in this world that can say they have, not only seen, but performed in such an incredible location!! I do believe that our trip to Hawaii provided the goal that was intended: to be educational for our students, to share their ability to make incredible music with people from across the globe, and to create memories that will last a lifetime!

Also, over this break history was made for Johnson High School! Johnson HS is sending TWO Winter Guards to the State Championships held in Reed Arena at Texas A&M University!! Our Junior Varsity group placed 1st in their round of the Scholastic AA Division, out-scoring 13 other Varsity programs on their way to earning the advancement to the Texas State Championships! Additionally, our Johnson Varsity put on an incredible performance in the Scholastic Open Division, placing them in 1st and securing a performance in the Texas State Championships as well! To have one group advance to the state championships is awesome but to have two groups advancing is incredible!! Congratulations to our awesome students and staff!!!

Now, for what is coming up this week! We have our regular slate of after-school rehearsals for our band and guard students, so please remember to check the calendar! We also have our Band Pre-UIL Contest at the Hays PAC on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Our Johnson Symphonic Winds, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will all be performing!! Also, Johnson is the host, and we are still in need of a few volunteers. We need four parents for each shift: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. Currently, we have one volunteer! Please consider volunteering! https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10c0d4da5ad2eaaffc61-high

Finally, we want to wish both of our Winter Guards the very best of luck as they advance to the TCGC State Championships this weekend, March 26, 2022!! What an incredible season both groups are having, and we couldn’t be more proud or excited! It truly is: A Great Day To Be A Jaguar!

Welcome to the family!

If you're wondering how Mr. Malik spent his Spring Break, well, it wasn't in Hawaii! Welcome to the newest member of our Jaguar Band Family, Jacob Aldo Malik! We wish Mr. Malik and his family all the best!

A note from your President

I wanted to give a BIG THANKS to each and every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, and friend who showed up yesterday to help the Jaguar Band and Guard host a VERY successful TCGC competition!

The event was very well-attended. Directors, Judges, TCGC staff, and guard units alike were extremely complimentary of our hosting - and man, we really do rock at hosting! As usual, you all were amazing!

Concessions had to restock, flowers sold out, and the mini-rifles were a big hit!

Thanks so much Jaguar Family for, yet again, showing up and working hard! It takes a village and ours gets stronger every day!

Word is spreading fast that not only are our student groups BIA but so are our families!!

Sincerely,

Ida Musgrove
