We have had an engaging week of learning for ALL members of our learning community this week. Students have partnered with peers, engaged in small groups, and worked independently throughout different portions of the day and week.
Our adult Bulldogs had an amazing day of learning today. This morning, staff members were able to connect with teacher leaders around the district both in-person at Fishers High School and virtually, depending upon the session. When we joined as a staff, teachers were "buzzing" in conversation about all of the new ideas they received to support students. We started our afternoon with some self-care opportunities before working in grade-level teams and then K-2 and 3-4 cohorts to dig into responsive writing strategies as well as priority standards. We appreciate the opportunity to strengthen our teaching craft by engaging in professional learning and dialogue.
HSE Schools will be mask optional starting on Tuesday, February 22 following the return from Presidents’ Day weekend. Please note, masks will still be required on the school bus per federal mandate. There have also been quite a few updates to our Covid-19 protocols. Please review the information that was sent Thursday afternoon (2/17). This updated information can also be found on our HSE website, District News
We hope that you and your family enjoy the holiday weekend! As always, thank you for partnering with us in education.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin
3rd Grade - Street Writers in Mrs. Street's class learned how to analyze writing with a rubric. She took a risk and let them score her writing :-). | 4th - Biggs These 4th grade students collaborated about their literary essays after learning the importance of "reading deeply" to find micro-stories, or examples to support their thesis. | 4th - Clark Writers reread a text, marking it up as they found evidence and/or patterns to support claims about a character, the setting, or the theme. |

FYAP Snack Attack Program
NBE is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Sherri Leiner, NBE School Counselor at sleiner@hse.k12.in.us
