October News #readytofly

A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Happy October!

We have many great things to share with you from the month of September! Below are some highlights from September:

  • All classes participated in Bully Prevention lessons with Bowman Center.
  • Cross Country has been practicing for an upcoming meet.
  • Lego League has started preparing for competition.
  • Hornet News is publishing Friday announcements.
  • All 2nd and 1st graders have participated in the state mandated Dyslexia Screener.
  • Teachers were trained on Renzulli; a gifted and talented program to continue growth in our highest achieving students.
  • K-2 teachers have jumped into the Science of Reading and learning about our new phonics program; Logic of English.

We are still struggling with maintaining a 95% attendance rate in classrooms. We just completed our first month competition and the results are below. Please make every effort for your child to attend school. We understand sickness is going around and the health and well-being of your child is always a priority. We will continue to monitor attendance and promote the importance of being at school, everyday. The top classes that earned extra recess:

95% Stanley

94.8% Pfeiffer

94.8% Bertsch

94.5% Faulkenberg

October 12 is parent-teacher conference day. There will not be school for students that day. Teachers are communicating options of times for you to attend this conference. It is very important that you make every attempt to attend and collaborate with your child's teacher. Feedback is the of the highest forms of student growth. Together, we can help your child reach their projected growth for the school year. NWEA will also be discussed at this time. You may find additional information on how we use NWEA to guide and monitor student growth.

My goal is to be as transparent as possible as your leader. If there is anything we can do better, please let me know. You can always message me on Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. I am also available by email and phone. I will return your communication within 24 hours. Have a great October!
