This is "OUR" Voice

Wednesday, October 3rd we began the journey on gathering student feedback and listening to our Briarcliff student voices. A small group of students met with Ms. Searcey to discuss ideas on how we can make Briarcliff even more amazing then it is, and provide student leadership opportunities within the work we do each day. Feedback was gathered and will be used to help guide our work in promoting student ownership in their educational experience.

Fall Parties

Fall parties will be held on Wednesday, October 31st from 3:00-3:45. This year we will be having a costume parade for all students and staff. The parade will begin at 3:00 with the parties following the parade from 3:15-3:45 p.m. Room party parents will be allowed to go to the classrooms to set up for the parties at 2:55.

Parents will need to bring their driver’s license or another form of ID to be scanned if they have not already done so this year. Parents attending the parade will check in and then go to the playground area to observe the parade. This will allow you to view all students as they walk to their assigned areas or parade around the circle. If parents are wearing a costume, we ask that faces not be covered so that the staff can recognize parents. We also ask that the costumes not be of a “frightening” nature.

Students are allowed to BRING costumes to school that day to wear during the party. Students are not allowed to bring in fake blood or weapons; further, if masks are worn that are deemed “scary” or “inappropriate” they will be asked to remove them. All costumes MUST be ones that can be put on over their clothing. No students will be allowed to change in the bathrooms. Students should not come to school with their face painted, with costume make-up, or colored hair. Those additional accessories can be saved and used at home that evening.

Please note: If you do NOT want your child to participate in the parade and/or the Fall party please make sure to let your child’s teacher know. We will have a separate activity for those students. If you do not contact your child’s teacher, then we will presume that they will be participating.

In order to make this a fun & successful event for the students, we need the help of our Briarcliff families! Please remember the parade and parties are intended for Briarcliff children only! Siblings of any age should not be in attendance.

Update: Safety and Security - Front Entrance

As we continue to reflect on how to make Briarcliff an amazing learning environment, we place significant focus on making sure our students are safe and secure. Recently, we had installed a new front entrance door bell and camera system. As most of you are aware, there tends to be a lot of traffic in our front entry area with PE and lunch dismissal procedures. We are asking all families and guests to ring the door bell at the entrance and office staff will respond appropriately. When "buzzed in" we ask you report to the office.

Friday Folders

Parents, we need your help! Please be aware that on FRIDAYS student will bring home a FRIDAY FOLDER that has information from PTA, OFFICE, and any other outside agency communication. These folders need to be emptied and RETURNED to school the following week so that teachers can send home this information EVERY FRIDAY! Thanks!

We Want You! ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

School attendance truly matters! The District places a high importance on regular school attendance by students. Parents who make regular school attendance a priority also are helping their children learn to accept responsibility. And that's an important lesson for a successful life. Student who are missing all, or portions of the school day are at risk for grasping the foundational skills necessary in basic reading and math. Please help us help your student develop a successful habit in attending school on a regular basis! Attendance Matters!
