Message from Mrs. Kilday
We had a great week back to school after the break! Everyone settled in very well and we were able to pick up where we left off. It was a very smooth transition which we like!
I want to address some issues in the parking lot by asking that you only cross within the crosswalk and always hold your child's hand in the lot. Also, we now have three vans transporting children, so we need more space for vans. We appreciate your patience with this.
Next Monday, January 16th there is no school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. During the next two weeks at school we will be reading some age appropriate books about Martin Luther King and linking this to kindness. Be sure to ask your child about it.
I hope you enjoy this week's newsletter. It is full of great information.

Curriculum Corner
Each month we highlight a different artist. This month's artist is Picasso . Each classroom reads the book, If Picasso Painted a Snowman by Amy and Greg Newbold. We look at pictures of Picasso and a few of his masterpieces. Each class then creates their own Picasso style snowmen. This is a wonderful way to expose children to various art techniques, artists and literature. Check out the picture of room five artwork!

Community Peer Lottery Updates
Our community peer applications for the 2023-2024 school year have been delayed as we consider the needs of our program and students as well as our growing enrollment. The application will be will be posted to our website on Friday, February 3rd. If your child is eligible to return next year and is in a community peer slot, we will send a hard copy application home with you. Returning students get priority and our schedules will remain the same for next year. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Kilday.
If your child is on an IEP, their schedule is determined by their special education team so you do not need to complete a lottery application.
Weather Delays or School Closures
Now that we have had some winter weather it is a good time to remind everyone of our school cancellation and delayed opening procedures. At times, due to the weather the district will have a one hour or two hour delay. On those days the preschool start time is pushed back. So a one hour delay would be a 10:00 start for us and a two hour delay would be an 11:00 start. Our dismissal would remain the same. There are also times when school may be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a phone call from the district with that message and an email from Mrs. Kilday. If you ever have any questions about this please do not hesitate to email Mrs. Kilday at kildayd@cantonma.org.
