Congratulations to Ms. Choi!
Congratulations to Korean and French teacher Ms. Choi, who recently was honored as the first winner of a prestigious national award sponsored by The Foundation of Korean Language and Culture in the USA (FKLAC) called the Dr. Ailee Moon Award!
Ms. Choi helped to create the curriculum and proposal to make Korean Levels I through IV a new course sequence in 2015 for all PWCS high school students to forever elect to study. She has been observed and visited almost every year by the Korean Embassy cultural leaders and has students earn international visit scholarships every year they are available. As part of Hylton CISL, she built the program to include over 90 students, including a school Korean Club.
Dr. Ailee Moon is currently an emerita professor of UCLA. She is one of the pioneers in developing, expanding Korean language as one of the world languages in the schools in America, thus enabling SAT II subject test’s inclusion of Korean. She is one of the founding board of directors of the Foundation of Korean Language and Culture in the USA.
