A message from the Principal

Dear Diley families,

We want to take this time and wish all of our families a Happy Holiday. We hope that everyone stays safe if you are traveling. I don’t know where the time went, but it seems like every year it goes by faster and faster. We would also like to wish you a Happy New Year. We hope 2023 is the best year yet for you and your loved ones.

Starting off the 2023 year right is important to us at Diley. When the students come back on January 5th we will have team meetings reinforcing behavior and academic expectations. Some of the items we will be reinforcing will include but not limited to:

  1. I-Ready Diagnostic expectations (trying our best on the test).

  2. Volume Levels in the building.

  3. Respecting yourself, others, and your school.

  4. Accountability - Getting work in.

  5. Chromebook Care

  6. Recess and Lunch Behavior (Showing good sportsmanship).

  7. Social Media - Being kind online

  8. Keeping our hands and feet to ourselves

We will also be discussing the district’s and building’s Level - Up plan. In PLSD and DMS we know that all of us play a vital role in preparing our students for the future. Please join us in 2023, by reinforcing at home positive behaviors and learning.

This year we will once again be holding the “Are you ready for i-Ready” challenge. Diley has a building goal of passing 9,250 lessons during our 11 week plan! Last year, we crushed our goal of 8,000. If the building reaches the goal, then we will hold an incentive day for the kids! This was a big hit last year. In addition to our academic (i-Ready) challenge, we are also going to hold a behavior challenge. Each week students will have a lesson on respect and emotional regulation. Please take time to ask about these lessons. We want all of our students to build empathy for others and treat others with respect and kindness.

Be on the lookout for more information about the Level - Up Plan the week we come back in January.

Until then……. Have a great break!!!!

From the Superintendent regarding possible Snow Days

As the weather in Ohio continues to get colder, I would like to share how the district will handle calamity days if in-person classes need to be canceled due to inclement weather. Calamity days this winter will be good old-fashioned snow days. Students will not be expected to learn virtually.

We strive to make the decision to delay or close by 5:30 a.m. or earlier so that we can notify radio and TV stations, post to the district website, and send electronic notices to emergency announcement subscribers.

Unusual weather conditions may force us to make the decision after this time. For that reason, parents and students are advised to stay tuned to major television and radio stations, as well as our website and e-communications notices, for updates.

Once a decision is made to delay or cancel, the information will be shared with parents and the media as quickly as possible. You can read more about calamity day procedures on our website at https://oh50010917.schoolwires.net/Page/98.

Please check the Infinite Campus portal to ensure that your contact information is accurate so that you will receive closing/delay notifications in a timely manner, and that you will receive the messages via your preferred method(s) of delivery (text, phone call, email, etc.).

Thank you! The first official day of winter is Dec. 21st!
