This coming school year students will have the opportunity to share their passion for music with other students at Rock Ridge. This program is a Non-Credit course called United Sound and it will take place during the first 45 minutes of a student's study hall. Interested students should register for a total of 8 courses including Music Appreciation (260000) as that will ensure they are placed in the correct block for study hall. Once schedules are created and students are placed in the correct study hall, students' schedules will be changed to list Study Hall for that block. It’s a long weekend and a cold one. It’s a great time to think about spring break plans. Seniors and juniors, consider visiting colleges during spring break (4/11-4/15). There are many ways to visit colleges:
- Attend an open house. An open house is normally 3-6 hours long and scheduled on the weekend. You need to register for open houses. Not all colleges offer spring open houses. I have listed many of the Virginia open houses in the newsletter.
- Do a campus visit – This involves registering for the visit on the college website and generally includes a 30-45 min info session and a campus tour led by a student tour guide for another 45 minutes.
- Just go visit when your schedule permits – Many colleges have self-guided tours to print out or an an app to download on their website. You do not need permission to be on campus. Find visitor parking (generally near the admissions office) You can also stop by the admissions office with specific questions or ask for a map.
Other than the open houses, I strongly encourage you to do a visit on a week day so you can see the activity and energy on campus.
