From the Principal:
Dear Families,
This is a very busy time at Midland, as we bring one year to a close and start planning for the coming school year. Our staff will soon begin the important task of placing those children who will be receiving new teachers for next year. If you wish to request special placement of your child please submit your rationale in writing to Dr. Dawson by Thursday, May 26th. Requests will be considered on the basis of what is best for each child and the learning environment of the group. All requests will be given thoughtful consideration, but due to keeping classes balanced, it may not be possible for all requests to be granted.
It is an exciting time to see how much our students have grown and are prepared for next year!
It's great to be a MUSTANG!
~Dr. Paula Dawson

Social Emotional Learning Corner
May 23rd
Conference Week
Possible SEL Questions to ask at conferences:
- Does my child actively listen to learn? Does my child actively listen to connect with peers and others?
- Can my child self-manage for academics and social situations?
- Can they stay organized and on task?
- Do they manage their emotions in social interactions?
- What situations cause my child to struggle with self-regulation?
(transitions? Less structured times?, cooperative work times? Etc)
- Does my child seem to have healthy friendships?
- Does my child ask for help when they need it?
Take this conference time to connect with your child’s teacher and after the conference, discuss with your child their strengths and areas for growth. Enjoy 😊
Books for Bases reading challenge
Introducing the "Books for Bases" schoolwide AR Challenge!
**AR is a motivational Reading program. Students will read books, take quizzes, and earn points based on their individual reading levels.**
You can help and support the challenge by:
-Reading with your kids!
-Encouraging your kids to work on their AR goals for 3rd Trimester!
-Asking your kids about the books they are reading, points they have collected, or which base they are on!
-Taking your kids to the public library to get more books!
Are you moving?
Thank you!
As we look forward to the 2022-2023 school year, please remember that students must have up to date vaccinations or a valid (physician documented) exemption on file to start school next year. Please take some time this summer to make a well child visit with your pediatrician or family medicine provider and get those shots up to date! If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our nurse at 253-298-4508.
