Important Policy Changes for Volunteers
Pennsylvania has recently passed legislation (Act 153 of 2014) requiring all volunteers to undergo background checks and submit clearances every 36 months. If you have a volunteer affidavit on file at this point in time, you are covered for the remainder of this school year. You will need to get the clearances by July 1, 2015. If you currently have clearances, you will need to renew the clearances if they will be more than 3 years old on July 1, 2015. If you do not currently have clearances or an affidavit on file, you will be required to get clearances now in
order to volunteer for the remainder of the school year and moving forward. All new volunteers will also be required to have a current TB test. Existing volunteers will be required to have a TB test no later than July 1, 2015. There is a link to the forms on the district website. http://pgsd.org/domain/48
