Local Scholarship:
Caroline County Economic Development Authority Scholarship Application
Eligiblility: Must be a senior planning to attend college, must have financial need, must have leadership experience.
Deadline: Due to main office by March 25 at 2:50 PM

Local Scholarship:
Sally Holland & Wesley Peters Hicks Scholarship
500 word essay required. Essay will be about your chosen college major and professional pursuits.
Deadline: Must be received by the main office by March 30, 2019.

State of VA Department of Education:
2019 Granville P. Meade Scholarship
The Virginia Department of Education will award $2,000 per year for selected students attending a Virginia college. The scholarship is dedicated to those who have achieved academically but cannot afford to attend college. Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation, including one from Mr. Wick.
Deadline: Must be received by the main office by March 15, 2019.

Local Scholarship:
The Lauren A. Davies Memorial Scholarship
Must be a senior planning college, tech school, nursing program; must be a physically challenged student with an acute health disorder (physical, neurological, mental, visual, hearing, speech impaired, epileipsy, diabetes, etc). Must have good character.
Deadline: Must be received by April 5, 2019

Teen Enrichment Network Scholarship
The Teen Enrichment Network scholarship selection committee is searching for well-
rounded students from the Fredericksburg Region who exhibit creativity, scholastic
ability, evidence of leadership and involvement, service to community or school, and
outstanding character. One $1,000 scholarship and one $500 award.

The Historic Fredericksburg Region AACA Scholarship
$500.00 for senior who will continue their education in Automotive Technologies. This can range from mechanical systems, auto body, and vehicle restoration. Preference will be given to restoration and preservation studies.
Deadline: Must be received by April 1, 2019

Walker Grant Alumni Association Scholarship
Two one-time $1000.00 scholarships. To be eligible you must be a senior planning to attend a college, technical school, or nursing program, and must be a descendant of an individual who attended Walker-Grant School from 1939-1968, have a C average or higher, have financial need, and acceptance to an accredited school/college for Fall 2019.

FAFSA Help
Last year, about 40% of the Class of 2018 had submitted the FAFSA by the end of the school year. So far, about 28% of the Class of 2019 has submitted. Let's keep up the work and beat the Class of 2018's percentage!
Submit your 2019-2020 FAFSA on fafsa.gov. Feel free to email Ms. Taylor (kataylor@ccps.us) with any questions and to let her know when you have submitted. A raffle will be held the first week of March for those who have completed the FAFSA! You won't want to miss this prize!
Community College In-House Scholarships
Please sign up using your VCCS email address and create a password. If you need help with your VCCS email address or password, please click on "trouble signing in" or see your Career Coach. Please allow one day between applying at the community college and signing up here to apply for scholarships.
As a requirement to complete the scholarship application, students must complete the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. These scholarships are awarded each aid year for the fall and spring of the academic year. In addition, each portal may require a personal essay and personal recommendations.

Upcoming Events
- College Night: Wednesday, March 13th, 5:30 to 7:30pm - Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend College Night with their parents/guardians. Information about applying to colleges, financial aid, and more will be given. Representatives from UMW and Virginia Tech will be in attendance. Pizza will be provided.
- Career Day: Friday, March 29th, 2019 in the CHS's New Gym
- Awards Night: Wednesday May 8th, 2019 at 5:30pm-7:30pm in the CHS's New Gym
- Decision Day: May 1 - Seniors who have committed to a college or the military will celebrate their accomplishments on Decision Day. We will have shirt decorating, food, and more. Please complete the form at the bottom of this newsletter.
Opportunities for Juniors
Questbridge partners with colleges to offer summer programs at top-tier universities. Students receiving this scholarship will attend college classes at a partner university during the summer before their Senior year. The scholarship pays for courses, room and board, and travel expenses. Applicants should have a high level of academic achievement (top 10% of class, PSAT or SAT scores greater than 1280, challenging coursework) and financial need. College Board Opportunity Scholarships
College Board has recently launched its Opportunity scholarships. Students will be given the opportunity to enter random drawings by simply completing the necessary steps of the college process. Questbridge National College Match
This is a competitive, full-ride scholarship. Students who receive the award will be matched to one of Questbridge's 40 college partners. Partners include UVA, Tufts, Stanford, Duke, and more. Applicants should be high-achieving (top 10% of class, 1250+ SAT score) and have financial need (household income below $65,000). Applications open this summer. JA Future Laureate Scholarship
The JA Future Laureate Scholarship competition is an annual scholarship essay contest that awards students from the Central Virginia region a $2,500 scholarship each. This competition is open to the graduation classes of 2020 and 2021 who have participated in at least one JA of Central Virginia program since September 2017.
