Trimester 2 Hybrid Instructional Model Enhancements
Enhanced Hybrid
The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly challenged many areas of our life, including the school lives of our students. Wayland Union Schools is committed to providing students with an excellent education while prioritizing their health and safety in these challenging times.
- Live Lessons
- WIN intervention time
- Office Hours for Staff
- Communication
- Drop-In Study Hall Sessions
Live Lessons
Students will continue to receive one live lesson each Wednesday from their teacher with these modifications:
- We will begin to take attendance for these live lessons on Wednesdays to monitor which students are/are not attending these lessons.
- Parents will be able to check their child's attendance at live lessons through Infinite Campus Parent Portal
- Live lessons will be recorded and shared through the teacher's Google Classroom for students who are not able to participate due to circumstances beyond their control
- Attendance at live lessons will not be subject to truancy rules and policies.
WIN Intervention time
In addition to one daily live lesson, students will receive one WIN (What I need) intervention live lesson each Wednesday. These lessons will be aligned with their academic/instructional needs. Times for these sessions will be provided by your child's teacher.
Office Hours
Each Pine Street teacher will be available for office hours between 12:30-1:30 each Wednesday.
During office hours, teachers will be available to answer questions and provide assistance to students and parents. Office hours may be provided through Zoom, Google Meet, or by phone.
If a teacher does not answer during office hours, it is likely they are helping another student/family. Please leave a message and they will connect with you.
Communication
On our survey, some parents expressed concerns about not knowing who to contact for support in a variety of areas. Here are some general communication guidelines and resources to help parents and students:
- In general, Wayland Union Schools staff will respond to emails within 24 hours, during the school week.
- Whenever there are questions about paper assignments, online assignments, grades, due dates, etc., it is always best to start communication with your child's teacher as they are the one with immediate knowledge and information to assist. If questions and concerns cannot be resolved by working with your child's teachers, please contact the Building Princpal.
- Technology Support is available for students and parents during school hours, M-F. Their contact information is included in the resources section at the bottom of this newsletter.
Drop In Study Hall
Pine Street Elementary will be providing students the option of signing up for time to come to the building on Wednesdays to access the internet and work on missing assignments. This will be done in one hour blocks. Spaces are limited for this option in order to maintain the ability to conduct deep cleanings on Wednesdays. This will begin on December 2nd. More information will be coming with further details and how to sign up each week.
