Updates from Manassas Park Middle School - 8/31/2018

Welcome Back!

This week was fun filled with students returning to school and introducing 6th grade students to Middle School life. If you were unable to come to Open House, we made an introductory video so parents can put a face to the name of every teacher in the building. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the first week of school!

Reminder - ALL 6th Graders need a Tdap shot!

The State of Virginia requires all rising 6th grade students to present proof that they have had one booster of the Tdap vaccine. This is the vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).

If your child does not have their Tdap paperwork in by Tuesday, September 4, they will not be allowed to attend school until their paperwork is up to date.

You can hand deliver vaccination paperwork or fax it to the main office at 703-331-3538.

Any questions, please ask your physician or email our school nurse, Ms. Vonvital at dianna.vonvital@mpark.net

Are you eligible for Free or Reduced meals? Make sure your paperwork is up to date!

Free and Reduced meals are available to qualifying families based on household income. This is an annual program, meaning you must reapply every year in order to take advantage of this benefit. (Link is to the application information page of our website.)

Free meals mean your student receives both breakfast and lunch for free for the 2018-19 school year.

Reduced meal prices are $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch for the 2018-19 school year.

The application is open and available for ALL families to see if they qualify, but if the paperwork is not completed in the first 30 days of school, all meals charged to start the school year will be billed as full price. Submit your application today!

Donated School Supplies for Those in Need!

A HUGE Thank you to the wonderful Trinity Episcopal Church who donated school supplies for students in need.

If your student needs school supplies and cannot afford them, please have them visit Ms. Salas in the School Counseling office to take advantage of this wonderful donation!

Thank you to Ms. Nahser and the members of Trinity Episcopal Church!

Big picture

Love Your Laptop!

Thanks for everyone who collected their laptop during Back to School. If you have not collected your laptop yet, you should visit the front office to discuss completing infosnap and paying the $25 technology fee. Once those two parts are complete, we will distribute the laptop to your child.

And we greatly value feedback about the device deployment process. Please complete a quick survey telling us what you liked about this year's process, as well as areas where we can continue to improve. This feedback is taken very seriously (hence no video this year!!) so please be honest in your responses! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MPCSDeploy18

Thank you!
