Geography Quest and Chocolate Coated History / Colonial America Chocolate Lab

11:00 AM Sign In, Payment Collection, & Introductions

11:15 AM Tour Begins

Chocolate Lab Students examine the raw ingredients of chocolate, and grind nibs with a mortar and pestle to produce chocolate liquor. They will grate chocolate liquor and mix the grated chocolate with water. Using a chocolate pot and frothing stick, students will create a chocolate beverage similar to those enjoyed in Colonial America and sample their creation. Please note that only students will be permitted in the lab.

Tour We will travel through time from the farms of Pennsylvania to the Columbia Exposition in Chicago and the South American rain forests. Journey with them as they explore the town once called Derry Church, and discover its connection to the larger world. Sounds capes, computer interactives and creative theaters make the trip come alive.

    For the Tour students will learn Geography, Reading, & Writing. Listening and Speaking skills will be enhanced.

    For the Lab Students will learn Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Geography, History and Food Science. Listening and Speaking skills will be enhanced.

    OLS Hours: 2 hours for Geography, Reading, Math and History. 1 hour of Science


    An adult chaperone must stay on-site for all PA Virtual events.

    Shoes must be worn at all times.

    All PA Virtual events are smoke-free.

    Pets should never be brought to PA Virtual events.

    To limit the spread of possible flu, please do not attend a PA Virtual event if you have had a fever within 24 hours of the event.

    In consideration of our students with allergies, please refrain from bringing balloons or food containing nut products.

    If there is a possibility of severe weather, please check your email and blackboard on the day of the event for any cancellations.
