October 2018
edTPA timeline updates:
A message from Dr. Hannah Reeder, Director of Clinical Preparation:
October will be a very busy time for our clinical interns. They will wrap up Task 2 during week 7(October 1st-5th). Come weeks 8 and 9, students will be doing all of Task 3, which consists of selecting and analyzing student work samples, providing feedback to students, and writing the Assessment Commentary. Week 10 is the BIG week! All edTPA portfolios must be submitted to Tk20 and Pearson by midnight on Tuesday, October 23rd. The weekend leading up to the 23rd will be a very stressful time for most of our clinical interns. It might be a good idea for you to check in with them over that weekend to make sure they are on track to submit by Tuesday. Then, once they do submit, tell them to take a big deep breath and celebrate this big accomplishment.
Clinical interns will be meeting with their University Field Supervisors for regional meetings on Friday, October 5th and Friday, October 19th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Supervisors will check off students' Task 2 materials on the 5th and Task 3 materials on the 19th. We will also distribute vouchers on the 19th and walk students through the submission process.
The beginning of October is also the mid-term window. Supervisors will be evaluating students on their progress towards meeting the elements of the Certificate Teaching Capacity. Most students will also have their second observation during the month of October.
As you can see, October is very busy! But once the 23rd gets here, things will slow down quite a bit for our clinical interns. Thank you for supporting them through this stressful season!
