Hello PVM Families,

This spring is quite possibly the strangest spring in our lives. This month is usually a celebratory month that involves nicer weather and preparations for the end of the year activities. This is a time that we prepare to say goodbye, with celebrations, to a group of 8th graders who have possibly spent the last four years walking our halls. Unfortunately, some of these rites of passage and annual traditions will be put on hold during our current time. Never fear, we will be celebrating our outgoing 8th grade class in some capacity. These ideas are being discussed and will be relayed to you soon.

Even in these more difficult times we have good things happening at Pleasant Valley Middle School. We recognize that the past month and a half have not been the easiest, but our incredible teachers have stepped up to show what they are made of. Creating online learning opportunities at a high quality level has been everyone’s goal. Do know that our teachers continue to share how they desperately want to be back together, work with students, and do what we love to do in our classrooms. We look forward to that day.

We applaud the adults at home who are working with students to keep the learning moving forward. If remote learning causes stress, we understand. Students were thrown into this new experience, and we don’t take for granted the roles that parents play in this process. Keeping middle school students focused on distance learning cannot be an easy task, thank you for making this a priority during this time.

On another note, we realize that some items will need to get to students and families as we near the end of the school year. We are developing plans for yearbook distribution and personal item pickups. We will communicate all necessary information soon so families can plan accordingly.

Thank You All! Stay safe and healthy!

Family and Community Resource Center

Battle Ground Public Schools’ Family and Community Resource Center (FCRC) helps meet the needs of families faced with housing instability and similar economic challenges.

While a main goal of the FCRC is to assist families experiencing housing instability, it can also help connect families with many other types of resources and is intended to respond to the changing needs of the community.

The FCRC is a continuation of the district’s joint efforts with the Battle Ground Education Foundation, an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose purpose is to leverage community resources to help maintain quality education for all students in Battle Ground schools.

The Family Resource Guide is full of contacts to aid families in connecting with agencies who are able to help with a great variety of needs. Please click the link below to view this helpful guide.

Aliens' Morning Meeting in Ms. Lavis's Room

The aliens miss listening to Ms. Lavis's morning meetings, so they are having one of their own. Right now they are getting ready for the Question of the Day, "What is your favorite planet?".

Just to keep it fair, this guy is helping Ms. Lavis by picking a stick to see who will answer first.

Now it is time to update the calendar. Wow, May 18th already! That's the day Mt. St. Helens blew her top forty years ago! I see Ms. Rena is helping count the days.

This little guy has some visitors by the board while everyone checks in with how they are feeling this morning. Hi Ms. Debra, and Mr. Lopez from clear over at Glenwood Heights!

Online Payment for Purchases, Fees and Fines

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce that the Battle Ground School District is opening online payments for parents as a convenience when paying for items such as yearbooks, field trips, dances, tests, student fees, donations etc. You can access this site at We have also included a "Pay Fees and Fines icon" under the quick links section on our website that will take you directly to the payment website.

Please note there is a convenience fee that will be assessed if you choose to use this as a payment option. You will still be able to mail payments (marked with student first and last name and what the payment is for) to Pleasant Valley Middle School, P.O.Box 200, Battle Ground, WA 98604. When we are back to learning in the school buildings you may still come into the office, or send money with your student to pay for items, like we have always done. All permission slips for any activity or field trip will still need to be filled out and turned in to teachers. If the field trip you are paying for is offering chaperone spots, you will need to come in and pay for that at the school office. You cannot pay for chaperone fees online, only students.

The login username and password are as follows:

Username is your student's "Other ID" number. This information is located in Skyward under the Student Info tab on the left pane. It is also the number on the student's ASB card.

Password is your student's last name as it appears in Skyward. Make sure the first letter is capitalized.

Yearbook Orders!

You will now be able to pre-order PVM yearbooks online from April 20th through June 5th, or until we run out. We have ordered a limited number, so be sure you order yours before they are all gone! Yearbooks are $20. Online ordering is now available!

To pre-order online please see the information above regarding online payments. We strongly encourage paying online to ensure timely receipt of your payment. If you are not able to pay online, you may mail your payment to: Pleasant Valley Middle School, P.O.Box 200, Battle Ground, WA 98604. Be sure to include the first and last names of each student you are purchasing a yearbook for, and their homeroom teacher's name. Payments must be received at our school on or before June 5th. Mail received at the P.O.Box is processed by the district warehouse then sent to schools, which may take several days once the warehouse receives it.

Online pre-orders will automatically reserve a yearbook from those remaining. Mailed in pre-orders will only reserve a yearbook when received at the school, provided there are still yearbooks remaining. As such, we cannot guarantee that there will be yearbooks remaining to be purchased by the time a mailed in payment is received at PVM.

Every student at Pleasant Valley Middle School is known by name, strength, and need.
We believe ALL students can experience academic and personal growth.
