Class Description
The focus of this course is the application of advanced information and communication technologies in the health care of communities and populations. Building on a base of consumer informatics, the course will explore Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data mining techniques, telemedicine technology, and advanced communication technologies in the context of global health.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the use of advanced communication technologies through participation in Web conferencing, online discussion groups, virtual environments, and web-based instruction and evaluation.
2. Apply advanced information technologies to the implementation of consumer informatics applications for health promotion and disease prevention.
3. Discriminate among advanced communication technologies in the context of global health.
