How to Mute a Conversation

Are you tired of a long conversation/email thread that has nothing to do with you?

Simple solution is to mute it.

Select a conversation and click Mute in the 'More actions' drop-down menu. New messages added to the conversation bypass your inbox so that the conversation stays archived.

Conversation that are muted pop back into your inbox if a new message in the conversation is addressed to you and no one else, or if you're added to the "To" or "Cc" line in a new message.

Finding a muted thread

To find a muted thread just type “is:muted” in your Gmail search box.

Unmuting a conversation

Select the email, click the More actions drop-down menu and select unmute.

  • Select the email and click Move to inbox.

  • Click the X on the 'Muted' label.

Emphasise Important Words In Gchat

If you want to add extra emphasis to your comments on Gchat, you can add some basic formatting as you type. To make text bold, surround your text with asterisks (*bold*), use underscore to add italics (_italics_) and hyphens to add strikethrough (-strikethrough-).

Restart your Internet Browser (email screen)

Compose a new email

Notice a new toolbar below your Send button:

You can select “Send Later” to send the email at a later time/date, or click the checkbox next to “Boomerang this” and tell it when to remind/notify you if the recipient has not replied.
