Read-a-Thon Month Schedule

Week of May 9: Collect Your Fundraising

May 19: Read-a-Thon Assembly and Carnival Night

Carnival, Read-a-thon, Awards Ceremony

Monroe is gearing up for the biggest event we have seen in 2 years! We will have a carnival, read-a-thon celebration and awards ceremony all on the same night!

To celebrate all that reading, we will have an awards ceremony on May 19th in conjunction with a silent auction and raffle. PTO will be hosting a carnival. So be sure to mark your calendars and Read for Monroe. This will be a fundraiser for Monroe.

Lost and Found

The lost and found has grown by leaps and bounds with the weather that is cold and rainy one day and warm and sunny the next. We will be boxing it up and donating it May 13. Please take a moment to browse all the items and see if your student has left some behind.

YEARBOOKS!

Order your yearbook for the 2021-2022 school year. Don't miss out on owning a copy of all the great memories that were made. A copy of the order form will be sent home with your student(s), but just in case, a copy is attached below. Supplies are limited, so order yours today!

Spring Band and Orchestra Concert

After a very long time without any musical performances, our band and orchestra will be having a concert. The concert will be at 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM on May 20th.

Library Fun

This week, we had fun celebrating Star Wars Day in the library. We learned about the Sci Fi genre and made Darth Vader corner bookmarks. May the 4th Be With You!

CHANGES COMING TO SCHOOL LUNCH FOR 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR

For the last two years, school meals have been free for all students nationwide through special federal funding. That funding has expired and meals will return to regular pricing for the 2022-23 school year. As we get closer to the school starting this fall, an application will be available to help with lunch payments, based on income eligibility. Please check the Boise School District website (Food/Nutrition Services) for updates.

Borah Girls Basketball Camp

See the attached file for information regarding basketball camp for girls entering grades 3-8. Camp will be held June 6, 7, 8 from 10 AM - Noon.

Summer Music Programs

Summer music programs are highly encouraged for any band and orchestra students at Monroe Elementary. This is a great opportunity to solidify naming notes on the staff and review beginning instrumental concepts. This solid foundation is valuable moving into a more difficult instrumental curriculum. If students are wanting to try out a different instrument, this is also a great opportunity to do so.

"Get a head start, improve your skills, or just play and sing for the fun of it in... The Boise Schools' Summer Music Program!! The Boise Schools have a long tradition of providing today's young musicians with the opportunity to get a 'jump start' on or continue their music education during the summer months. We welcome you to join us."
