Marshall LMS Update
Bray's Bulletin
A Message from Mrs. Bray
I hope that all of our Rams are enjoying a fun and restful three day weekend. We look forward to seeing our Rams back on campus tomorrow morning. On Friday, September 10th at 7:50 a.m. we will honor and remember the patriots we lost on September 11, 2001. If your child is on campus at this time they are welcome to join us in the John Marshall High School Auditorium as we mark this solemn occasion in our nation's history. Please note the date below for the Parent Engagement Group Meeting on Tuesday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. This is a great way for parents to stay involved with Marshall LMS. The Marshall community will also host the Marshall Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, September 22nd at 6:00 p.m.at the Marshall High School campus. More information will be forthcoming in the next several days. We hope to see you there. Last week the Marshall and LMS administrative teams conducted student success meetings to ensure that all students have a positive transition back to the school environment. Please note the NISD dress code policy attached to this newsletter should you have any questions regarding dress code. Please note that Marshall High School has made a campus based decision to allow students to wear shorts at or below the knee. As we make the transition to being Northside Reunited please know we are just a phone call or an email away.
Attendance Matters Attendance Counts
September is Attendance Awareness Month and Northside ISD encourages all families to prioritize daily school attendance. Research shows that school attendance leads to future success and brings numerous benefits to students, including higher academic achievements.
Texas Education Code states that students must be present in class 90% of the time in order to earn course credit or be promoted to the next grade level.
Not only do absences lead to learning loss, they can also lead to social-emotional deficiencies. We encourage all parents and students to make school attendance a top priority except for times when the student is ill.
Does Your Child Need Internet Access At Home?
Northside ISD has partnered with TEA Connect Texas (TEACT) to provide eligible families access to free, filtered internet service at home.
Monthly home-based, high-speed broadband internet service will be available at no cost on a first come, first served basis. To be eligible, families must currently lack adequate home internet service.
The goal is to address the “Homework Gap” and provide students internet access outside of school hours. This is along with the District’s one-to-one device initiative which provides laptops and Chromebooks to all students.
To get started, visit the TEA Connect Texas website. Families will need to provide their child’s student ID number, phone number, email address, and home address.
Hard copy forms will be available in each NISD school office for families who need assistance completing and submitting. All forms must be submitted by Oct. 1, 2021.
Once eligibility is determined, TEACT will work as a liaison between families and internet service providers to schedule installation.
TEACT is a Texas Education Agency initiative to support school districts. For more information or questions about the program, visit the TEACT website.
