Henry Smith, King Lab/Arts class of 2009
Henry Smith is a multi-media artist and designer. He is the manager of the Design Lab at University of Texas Austin, and caretaker of the Rob Roy Kelly American Wood Type Collection. Henry showed us a demonstration of one of the printing presses.

Arts Integration Family Night

Family Arts Integration Night was amazing. It was exciting to see and hear all the reactions to the great work done by teachers, artists and scholars.
7th grade is researching Cultural Dance and music, 8th Grade is moving through the decades with social dance.
In 3rd grade scholars are linking Weight and Tempo to Character Traits.

King Arts Rock On-semble
King Arts Rock On-semble gave its first performance in 28 months(!), performing an original song that students wrote and arranged.
Library with Ms. Jaquess
We are very thankful to partner with Evanston Public Library who brought the book mobile out for our Family Arts Integration Night. This year, over 50 students at King Arts applied for their very own public library card through our joint public library card campaign.
As summer quickly approaches, be sure to sign up for the EPL Summer Reading Program. District 65 has a fabulous summer reading list that will help you complete some of the squares on the EPL's bingo card! It's called Read Beyond Borders and helps kids "travel" through reading to Europe, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia this summer as well as North and South America.
