A Message from Principal P
Dear CMS Families,
Please take a moment to look over this week's Friday Message for updates and reminders. I want to highlight an upcoming fundraiser for the PTO and our recently adopted mission and vision statements for CMS.
The PTO is starting a fundraiser selling delicious cheesecakes next week. Students will receive order forms in homeroom on Wednesday. Please see the attached flyer under the PTO section. Top sellers will have a chance to win a PS5 or $500 gift card!
The CMS Guiding Coalition created a mission and vision for CMS to guide our collective decision-making as a building. It was presented at our January faculty meeting and staff uninanmoulsy agreed upon our mission and vision.
Our Mission
Camillus Middle School staff consistently builds strong, supportive relationships with students and families to foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment in order for all students to achieve their highest academic and social-emotional potential
Our Vision
“Camillus Middle School continues to focus on improving the educational opportunities, academic performance, and social-emotional well-being of every student.”
As a faculty, we are committed to our continued growth in order to support our students and families. As our work continues I will communicate updates on our areas of focus which currently involve looking at our grading practices as well as building upon our structures and systems to support our students' social and emotional growth.
Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!
Better Together,

Yearbooks
The online store is now open. Order your 2022-2023 yearbook here.
The cost for a yearbook is now $30 Yearbooks can be ordered until March, 24
If you have questions please reach out to our yearbook advisors Mrs. Tanchak or Ms. Levea at:
CHROMEBOOKS
Please remind students to charge their Chromebooks every night and over the weekend. We are seeing an uptick in students either forgetting their Chromebooks at home or bringing them in uncharged. Once the library runs out of extra Chromebooks to loan out for the day, students will be unprepared for classes and may not be able to access the materials needed to complete their classwork during class.
How to obtain student work due to absence
If a student is out 2 days or more, please email teachers prior to 10:30 and work will be emailed. If anything needs to be picked up, teachers will let you know and the work can be picked up in the front foyer between the doors anytime between 3:00 PM- 5:30 PM.
New SEPTSA Members Welcome
We are in need of volunteers for our annual and ONLY SEPTSA fundraiser. Each year, the Fairmount Fire Dept. runs a fish fry and donates the profits to several organizations in the community and SEPTSA has been a lucky recipient in past years. We are required to provide TWO volunteers at EACH fish fry night to be a recipient of proceeds. Please help if you can and sign up for one or more slots. We may also sell baked goods again this year at one of the events. If so, the sign-up to donate baked goods will come later.

This month we celebrate Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history. (history.com)
To learn more about the origins and importance of black history month check out the resources below.
The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.
