From the Principal
Hopefully this message finds you well and in good spirits. The previous week was filled with instructional activities, real world learning experiences, service opportunities, and fun times. From using a recipe to make Leprechaun shakes to learning the skill of fishing, the learning continued on and connected us. Under the guidance of Mr. Gaines, 5th graders are provided a chance to learn how to fish, and they actually get to practice what they've learned by going fishing. Because they are using real equipment (donated by The Ike Foundation), safety always comes first, and they have to meet certain criteria.
Under the leadership of Counselor Johnson, our newly inducted National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) members conducted their first service project. Water was collected for families still in need due to the winter storm. NEHS members created posters, advertised the service project, collected water donations, and packed them for delivery. We appreciate everyone who gave and/or had the desire to give for this worthy cause.
We concluded the week with birthdays being recognized, game winners being selected, and a special surprise to all scholars on campus. Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to have our regular pickles and popcorn Fridays; however, thanks to our PTA collaborating with us, we were able to "pop" into Spring Break. Each scholar and faculty member received a bag of freshly popped popcorn. Unfortunately, we missed our 2nd grade class, so we will provide popcorn to them when we return from Spring Break.
As we are approaching the STAAR testing season, parents are encouraged to visit the following webpage created by the district (additional information will be communicated):

This week, we hope that Spring Break brings an opportunity for all to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate while remaining safe. School will resume on Monday, March 22, 2021.
Be sure to keep the following dates(s) in mind:
March 15-19: Spring Break
March 22: School Resumes
