A Word from our Principal
Well we did it! It sure wasn’t like any other year but we have finished strong. I appreciate all you have done to keep your students engaged during this unprecedented time. None of this was easy for any of us. As a community we have rallied together and have managed to not only survive but to grow. I look forward to many years together and much growth together as well. I am so proud of the kids for fighting through this!
We need one last favor from you. Please have your student gather all the items in their possession that belong to AHS and place them in a bag with their name and grade inside. On June 3 from 10 am - 12 pm and then again from 4 - 6 pm we will be accepting items for return. This will be a quick drop off and no one will be entering the main area of the building. Please enter the parking lot on the north side and drive past the gym to the pool area. Have your student exit the car with the bag of items. Students will enter the pool hallway where they will drop the items off. They will exit the other side and meet you by the football parking area. So you will make a loop around the parking lot as they are dropping the items off. We expect students to be in that hallway for less than 2 minutes. No one else will be in the hallway with them. Dr. Langhans and I will be there to direct traffic and students. This is a contactless drop off. Once the items have been stored for an appropriate amount of time for us to safely handle them we will mark all items as returned and any items not returned will be added to your student’s fine list. They should double check for textbooks, library books, calculators, sports uniforms, etc.
For items that may have been left in the school please note that students will have access to the same locker next year. Those items will be safe until then. If there is an item that is critically important for you to retrieve from the school you may contact me and we can make special arrangements for a curbside pick up. This will only be offered for items deemed essential and needed before the start of the 2020-2021 school year as we have a very limited staff presence in the building.
There will be times this summer where we need you to give us feedback for planning purposes. I apologize for asking as I like to give you a complete break over the summer. It would be very helpful if you participate in the surveys this summer in particular. We work very hard to include your voice as we determine our steps forward. And filling out the online registration is extremely helpful as well!
Thank you and have a healthy and restful summer!
