Mrs. Nagy's 1st Grade Class
First grade ROCKS... Come be a star!⭐️
Red Nose Day!
Morning gathering...Red Nose Day!
Look how funny we look:)
How time flies! It is hard to believe we have reached the end of our school year! Here are a few things as we go through the next 2 weeks...
- Pen pals - The class has been writing letters and receiving letters from the first grade class at St. Paul in Akron. We have invited them to our school for some play time in the afternoon and Popsicles tomorrow. The children are very excited to meet their Pen Pals. This is a fun day for both schools.
- Spelling list - This week will be our last spelling test of the year. The list was voted on and created by the first grade class. I will send a hardcopy of the list tomorrow in the children's folders.
- Clean up day - Friday of this week will be campus cleanup day. Children are permitted to bring dress down clothes to change into after mass on Friday. Please be sure to label your child's uniform clothing. Sometimes when the children change, uniform pieces get misplaced or mixed up. Weather permitting, we will be outside part of the day. Please be sure to put sunscreen on your child if they tend to burn easily. We will be working outside, and I would hate for anyone to get a sunburn.
- Water bottles - Please feel free to send in a water bottle for your child. They are permitted to have a water bottle at their desk during these last HOT weeks of school. This keeps them happy and hydrated during our school day.
- Rosary -This week we will saying the rosary outside (weather permitting). If your child would like to keep a rosary in their backpack they will be allowed to use it. Dismissal will be from rosary unless they are aftercare/bus riders.
- May child - This is the last week of May child...Wednesday (Robert and Emma), Thursday (Alistair and Mia), and Friday (Soleil and Ella). Thanks for all the flowers for Mary's Altar. Everyone has looked so beautiful in honor of our Blessed Mother...
- Read to the class - The children have been doing such a fabulous job reading to each other at the reading corner. They are so respectful to each other and really seem to enjoy being the person leading the class. I will continue to allow them this opportunity to read.
- Snack Chart - The LAST snack chart of the year should have been in your child's folder. The snack schedule of the week is as follows Wednesday (Nick Zarembka), Thursday (Aaron Breaux), and Friday (Robert Butler). We have 18 children in our class, please no peanuts or peanut butter. Thank you!
- Summer folder - Coming home in your child's backpack NEXT WEEK... will be any disposable books that have been left unfinished as well as a summer work folder created by me. I encourage the children to complete all the work in the folder. Some of this work can be a time filler on those rainy summer days or vacation car rides instead of "screen time". Inside the folder are also two books I purchased for them as a gift to keep reading this summer!!!! So many of them have made such progress this year....let's keep it going! The children will be given a small reward for returning any completed work back to me in August.
As we approach the end of the year we will wrap up by talking about money, maps and cardinal directions, forces and energy and landforms...as well as our usual Reading and Language Arts curriculum.
It has been such a fun and adventurous school year! Hopefully, your child has learned as much from me, as I have learned from them. It is amazing to see how much they have changed and grown in the last nine months.
Happy summer and LET'S GO CAVS!
