Resources for Integrating Technology into Instruction

Wrapping up the Year with Students
With 14 days left of school, I’m sure you have already considered how you will wrap up the year with students. Why not consider incorporating a technology component into these activities? Or why not consider running a Breakout Edu activity to engage your students? Read on for some wrap-up ideas that could even help you for next year!
Screencastify
Ask students to reflect on one idea that they learned this year (maybe even something they struggled with originally), then have students create some guiding Google Slides, and finally have students record themselves and/or the screen to have students explaining the concept in their own words using Screencastify. These recordings can then be used as additional resources for next year’s students!
Booksnaps
Want students to reflect on the most important thing they read this year, nonfiction or fiction? Ask students to create a book snap! Students take a picture (or screenshot) of a cover or page in a book, article, text, etc. and mark up the image to identify key takeaways, reactions, significance, etc. Google Drawing or any photo app (even SnapChat!) on a phone can create #booksnaps. Check out my example from George Couros’ book The Innovator’s Mindset.
Recap
Padlet
Create a Padlet wall where students can post reflections of the year, upload documents, post advice or share helpful resources for next year’s students, etc.
Breakout Edu
Try out a Breakout Edu activity in your class! Use a pre-made game from the site, or customize one to fit your curriculum. Sign out a kit today: https://sites.google.com/wwprsd.org/hssbreakout/classroom-ready
Resources for PD
Upcoming PD opportunities:
- Hacks for the Math Classroom-EdTech Team Live Wednesday, June 7th @ 7pm Online. More info here: https://nvite.com/edtechteam/nn1zyz
- South Brunswick Technology & Learning Conference on Tuesday, June 27. This conference was inspired by educators who are excited about sharing and learning innovative ideas for empowering students to find their passion and self-direct their own learning (how awesome is that?). Before you register, ask me for the friends and family discount code! One of the benefits I get from presenting at this conference is a discount for YOU! Yay!
