Head of School Weekly Update
April 18, 2019
Westminster Family,
It's been a busy week of testing, athletic events, and Easter celebrations. I will keep this week's update short and sweet, as I know you are looking ahead to a wonderful weekend.
We had two special chapel services this week. The yearly "Flowering of the Cross" took place at lower on Wednesday. Today at upper we heard testimonies from several students and faculty, each sharing their unique "Resurrection Story."
We are so blessed to have teachers and coaches who challenge our students academically and athletically while discipling them to become strong men and women of faith. Fifth-grade teacher, Christy Howell, is our Varsity girls tennis coach. They have had an amazing season after losing 5 seniors last year. Congratulations to them for finishing the regular season 11-1. The team finished in second place in Sectionals this week and qualified for the State tournament in Montogomery. Individual winners were:
#1 Singles- Bella Wimberly Area Champion
#2 Singles- Elisabeth Schlichter- Area runner-up
#3 Singles- Sarah Hardin- Area Runner Up
#1 Doubles- Bella and Elisabeth- Area Runner Up
#3 Doubles- Sarah and Annalise Harrison- Area Champs
The girls play on Monday and Tuesday at the State Finals in Montgomery.
Congratulations to Emily Montgomery and the Spanish Club! They represented our school muy bien last Friday at State Competition bringing home 11 trophies! Mrs. Montgomery is passionate about her students and the Spanish language and culture. Her enthusiasm is contagious.
