2018
Texas Recycles Day was a success!
Holiday Waste Facts
- The average American family has 25% more waste this time of year. This extra waste amounts to 25 million tons of garbage!
- If every American family wrapped just 3 presents in reused materials, it would save enough paper to cover 45,000 football fields.
- The 2.65 billion Christmas cards sold each year in the U.S. could fill a football field 10 stories high. If we each sent one card less, we'd save 50,000 cubic yards of paper!
Zero Waste Gift Ideas and Experiences

New Year's Resolutions? Try Green Resolutions instead!
- Recycle- if you aren't already in the habit, start today and encourage others to do the same! Remember, in Midland we recycles paper, plastic #1 and #2, aluminum, and cardboard (hello, Amazon boxes!)
- Beyond the one "R" we mention a lot, remember to also reduce and reuse! Reduce the amount of waste you consume by buying in bulk or finding items that have little to no packaging. Then find ways to reuse your items again and again!
- Learn to compost! Turn your yard clippings and food scraps into nature's fertilizer. Follow this link for simple steps to begin your composting adventure in the new year! https://www.planetnatural.com/composting-101/
