The Tough Reality of Zoos and Circuses

Did you know that more than 75% of elephants from European zoos are captured from the wild? Or that 75% of Elephants from European zoos are overweight and have health problems? All around the globe animals are being kept in circuses and zoos in small cages against there will, Being taken from the wild and being forced to perform driving them until insanity and depression.

Most zoos keep animals in inclousures that are to small

This is one of the many problems for the animals. They have a lack of space that is very insufficient and this can cause many bad problems for the animals such as depression and other forms of anxiety. Animals should not be limited to space and in a zoo environment they can not roam as freely as they would be able to in the wild.

Animals are taken from there homes and put into cages

Many zoos will take animals straight from the wild and put them into cages and hope that they will do fine but some don't. Most animals react differently but most get depressed from a boring life. This is very unhealthy and inhumane. A lot of times this happens with marine animals like dophins and killer whales. Try to imagine a life were you were taken from your house and put in a enclosed area and you had no choice when you got to eat and rely on others to feed you.

Animals are forced to perform in circuses

Animals in circuses may seem happy but the reality is that most do not like what they are doing. In circuses animals are often trained almost every day and forced to perform circus acts (jumping through rings of fire etc:). One example is of a elephant named Flora, Flora was a elephant in a circus and eventually cracked from all of the pressure attacking and killing her trainer and then getting killed by a police officer shooting 47 rounds into the elephant.

Conclusion

In Conclusion keeping animals in zoos is a cruel and tough thing some animals have to go through. Just remember next time your family wants to go to the zoo every time you pay you are keeping those animals behind bars and restrained
