SJCS Family Newsletter
February 2023
We know that our ultimate goal at SJCS is to courageously develop disciples for the 21st century (our vision). And, we do this every day through forming the whole student--mind, body & spirit--in a Catholic environment committed to a culture of belonging (our mission). We have our goals, or the tangible ways we carry out that mission and make progress toward our vision, with our Long Range Strategic Plan.
These three components-our vision, mission and goals-are absolutely necessary for our school to be in alignment and achieve great things. And, we must also consider the values of our organization. What beliefs do we have and what behaviors will we support to help us achieve our goals and carry out our mission to arrive at our vision?
Throughout this spring, we are doing a deep dive into the core values of SJCS to develop a thorough and refined commitment to each other and our stakeholders (students, parents, parishes and surrounding community) describing our identity as a successful organization.
This month, we are excited to release our first, and most important, core value: Charity.
Our staff and students have learned about this value over the last several weeks and its connection to the marigold flower. I encourage you to read our detailed description of charity and how we are connecting it to our work here at SJCS.
When we see or hear the phrase, "Be a marigold," may we think of charity and how we can build each other up through this virtue.
God bless & Go Eagles!

Tuition Update for 2023-24
Please see the letter linked HERE with an update to our tuition rates and new discounts for the 2023-24 school year.
We will offer the Early Bird Discount of $500 for all families who enroll before March 10, 2023.
This year, we have two new discounts to help us fill our open seats: a New Student Incentive and Referral Discount.
For our current families, you can earn the $500 Referral Discount when you share your experience at our school and get new students to enroll. Our current families are our greatest asset to building capacity in our school and in our community of the Catholic faith. And, there are no limits on how many referrals you can earn.
Please know that these discounts do not increase our tuition rates nor are families who pay full tuition covering the difference of these tuition discounts. Because we have empty seats, every student who pays any amount (even at a reduced rate) is helping to offset the annual tuition rates. The more seats we fill, the lower we can set tuition for all families and make our school affordable for even more families.
If you have feedback about these discounts, Mrs. Mishler, Fr. Brian, Fr. Will and our school board are happy to hear your thoughts.

Called by Name
As a Catholic school family, we have a privileged place to identify young men and women who exhibit the qualities that we all want to see in our priests and religious sisters.
Would you please take a moment to think of any of our students (or others) you may know who have priestly and religious qualities, and submit their names here?
The Vocations Office will be receiving name submissions until February 9. Thank you for your help in promoting vocations in the Diocese of Austin. Please reach out to Fr. Greg Gerhart, Vocations Director, if you have any questions.
