Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The FAFSA will be available for you to complete beginning October 1. Go to www.fafsa.gov. You will use your 2016 tax returns to complete the information. The FSA ID is teh first step to completing the FAFSA. This ID can be obtained at any time, even before Oct. 1. Go to www.fsaid.ed.gov to obtain one. We will host a Financial Aid Night on Tuesday, September 26, at 6:30 in the theatre. A financial aid representative from GTCC will be here to share information regarding these important financial aid forms. There will also be a FAFSA Day on Saturday, October 28. This event is a great time to get individual assistance with the FAFSA. For a list of locations as well as items to bring with you, go to https://www.cfnc.org/event/fafsa/fafsa_nc_map.jsp.

Graduation

Graduation for the Class of 2018 will take place on Monday, June 11, at 4:00. Location is still to be determined, as is date/time for rehearsal.

HBCU College Fair in Raleigh

The members of the Sigma Tau Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated are proud to announce our 3rd annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair to be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on the campus of Needham Broughton High School in the Holiday Gymnasium. This event is free. Bring a coat or seasonal wrap to donate. Last year approximately 25 HBCUs from across the nation attended the event. If any of you plan to attend, please contact Stephanie Davenport (stepd65@gmail.com) or Linda Henry (lshenry25@gmail.com). Please respond no later than September 16.

UNC Minimum Admissions Requirements--Updated

The UNC system has updated its minimum admissions requirements to include information about the new SAT, which began in March 2016. These are requirements to be be eligible to apply to one of the public UNC schools.
