Announcing...A New Way to Report Absences, Dismissals, etc.
Many parents and guardians email teachers directly or send handwritten notes in the case of student absences, dismissals, vacations, changes in transportation, etc. Oftentimes, teachers may not get to read emails or provide them to the main office in a timely manner where these things need to be reported and logged. Also, in some cases, it is difficult to read handwritten notes and on occasion, critical information is missing from the note.
To streamline our communication and to help you get information to the right place quickly, we have created the following email address for you to report upcoming absences, dismissals, changes in transportation, etc.directly to the office staff. You may still copy the teacher on the email, but the main point of contact will be our RO Office Team.
Please begin using the new 'roattendance@easton.k12.ma.us' email address immediately. I recommend making this email a "new contact" on your smartphone so that the next time your child is sick or going to be late or dismissed, you have it available to you.
PLEASE NOTE: We ask that you still call 508-230-3227 Option 6 to report ANY student absent or tardy.
Thank you in advance for you support with this new process.
Grade 3 Student Reading Assessment
Please know that the students will NOT know their reading level. That information is for teachers only. We have invested a lot of PTA and district money over the past few years on our leveled library. Our teachers now have ample texts - fiction and nonfiction - at each reading level.
This assessment will be done with third graders in January and again in May. Over the next two years, all students in Grades 3-5 will be tested. The goal is to have all RO students take this individual assessment at least twice a year so we are able to meet every student where they are at as a reader and facilitate individual growth throughout the school year.
If you would like to learn more about this assessment system, you can click here for more information.

RO Winter Concert - A Message from the Music Department
As you may already be aware, our annual winter Concert will be held in the Richardson Olmsted Gym on Tuesday, January 22nd for grade 5 Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. It is expected that all 5th grade students will be at both the daytime and evening performances.
Performance Times
The night performance will be at 7:00pm. Students need to report to the school at 6:30pm for the evening performance. (Orchestra students should arrive at 6:15pm for tuning). There will also be a daytime performance on that day at 9:30am for the students in the school to enjoy. If you have circumstances that make it necessary for you to be at the daytime performance, you may attend, but only bleacher seating is available for that performance.
Concert Dress
All students should be dressed in nice concert attire for both the daytime and evening performances. Nice pants (no jeans or shorts) and a nice shirt without writing would be ideal. All performers should wear comfortable shoes.
Parking
As you are well aware, parking can be a challenge. Please follow the guidelines and park in designated areas only. If space permits, there is also parking at both the High School and the Middle School.
Concert Etiquette
We are working very hard to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in our students and appropriate concert manners are a very important part of any performance. Please review the rules of etiquette on the back of this letter.
Please remain quiet during performances.
Please stay in your seat until the performance is over. If you must leave, wait for the performing group to finish the entire performance before standing up.
Do not stand in the aisles; it blocks others’ view.
It is polite to remain for the entire concert.
Do not use your camera flash during a performance.
Turn off all cell phones.
Clap enthusiastically!
Thank You for your support! We are looking forward to a delightful concert.
