Newsletter Week 6 Term 4
Tainui Full Primary School 26 November 21
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora, Kia orana, Talofa, Bula, Greetings
12 and a half days of the term to haere and life at school continues to be a hive of busy Tainui Learners.
The weather is turning a lot more warmer and the sun is shining. It is great to see the majority of our tamariki wearing their hats and keeping themselves safe. Health and hygiene continues to be a part of our routine here at Tainui, its becoming our norm as we learn to live with Covid-19.
A friendly reminder in an earlier letter that went home to all parents/whānau:
As per the guidelines that were issued by the Ministry of Education on 28 October, it states that all people who are on site during school hours and who will have contact with children must have had their first vaccine dose by 15 November 2021 and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022. Our school is compliant with the PHO.
Parents, caregivers whānau or volunteers at an education outside the classroom (EOTC), learning experiences outside the classroom (LEOTC) programme or excursion are required to be vaccinated and will be asked to prove your vaccination status.
So, from Tuesday 16 November, to come into our classrooms and to be in our kura alongside or working with our tamariki, we ask that you provide evidence of your COVID-19 vaccination status. This information will be held in strict confidence by the Principal and can be requested at any time. Please understand that this is not personal - it is the Public Health Order and we have been instructed to ensure the safety of all our tamariki.
We hope that we can continue to have trips, camps and opportunities outside the classroom as well as amazing volunteers in our classrooms. We thank you for the willingness to support our kura and our tamariki. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
We are open for all enrolments, please come in and see our friendly office staff at any time for a tour and chat about enrolling in our school.
We are still working on our organisation for 2022. If you would like to discuss your child’s placement please speak with the Deputy Principal Rosie. Part of our process is to give parents/whānau the opportunity to come in to speak with us if needed about our classroom structures. This is not an opportunity to request a specific teacher. It’s important to understand that requests will be listened to, discussed but not necessarily acted upon. No promises are guaranteed. We have collaborative spaces in our across our school, however, in addition to this each collaborative classroom has a single classroom space as well. This is to help certain tamariki transition in to the bigger space or allow them that smaller space option as required.

Equine Assisted Learning
In an EAL setting, the experiential approach integrates equine-human interaction that is guided by a planned learning experience to meet the identified goals or desires of the participant(s). Working with horses provides opportunities to teach critical life skills such as trust, respect, honesty and communication. Horses use mostly non-vocal communication and are in tune with human behaviour. This can help participants to better understand and learn how our non-verbal communication might be impacting or influencing others in their lives.
We like to work with the schools and the student IEP’s and in build their learning with us to achieve their learning goals. We do encourage a previsit to the farm, so this settles the students and they can have a look around, plus allows us to go through all the Health & Safety. Therefore, when sessions start the students are familiar with the environment.

Ngā Pēpī Manu-Transition to School
Kia ora, Kia Orana Talofa lava & greetings whānau,
Our Ngā Pēpī Manu programme supports your tamariki during their transition to primary school life. Every child adapts differently when finding a sense of belonging in new environments, all who are involved should make this a positive experience. We will work together to create a plan and timetable that will suit the needs of the child and family.
Our programme will run Monday to Thursday from 9am-1.30pm. The number of visits we recommend before starting school is six weeks. In the first three weeks visits will be two times a week and the last three weeks visits will be three times a week. If there is a need for more visits to support the transition, that can be arranged. We look forward to meeting with you and working together to grow competent and confident children for our future.
