The Buzz
Hello Florida Ruffin Ridley School Families and Friends,
I want to start by thanking our AMAZING Big Book Bazaar volunteer team who supported this year's event. Over three days students had the opportunity to browse and purchase new and used books from a wide variety of genres and authors. Big Book Bazaar culminated in a fantastic family night on Thursday May 27th with authors Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes reading their book Rescue and Jessica.
Happening alongside the Big Book Bazaar was our first ever FRR Kindness Fair led by our FRR Equity PAC. There were incredible examples of ways students are engaging with communities and working on making their corners of the world a bit more kind, equitable, and just. If you didn't get a chance to see the School Committee meeting where our FRR Equity PAC shared about the Kindness Fair you can check it out here. Also, if you are interested in more of what the Equity PAC is doing, or ways in which you can get involved, please check out their website: https://sites.google.com/view/frrequitypac/
We are certainly in the home stretch of this school year! With three and a half weeks left you can definitely feel the excitement and anticipation for the end of the year in our hallways and out on the playground. We had a wonderful harvest for our Salad Days on May 24th with tasting happening across grade levels on Thursday. Our Girls on the Run team absolutely rocked their practice 5K on Wednesday and were cheered on and supported by many members of the community out on the back field. And there are many Writer's and Reader's celebrations, work shares, concerts, and other class gatherings that are starting to populate the calendar making our hive simply buzz with excitement! Keep a close eye on our school calendar and your email to be sure you don't miss out on any of the closing of the school year events!
I hope everyone has a safe and restful long weekend and I look forward to seeing you all at the Carnival next Friday!

Important Information about Carnival on June 2nd
1. Set up for the rides will happen or start on Thursday. The vendor has requested the playground area to be closed this time, so they can set up safely. Please help your child(ren) stay away from the set up so that it can happen efficiently and safely.
