Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
February 3rd-7th
What's Going On This Week:
Ms. Harris' Social Studies: This week we will wrap up the Spanish-American War and Panama Canal and start our lessons on World War 1. Students will spend time looking at the causes, battles, and effects of the war. A study guide for the unit test will be coming home next week. The unit test will be Thursday the 20th or Friday the 21st.
Ms. Harris' GT Math and ELA: In math this week we will wrap up multiplying decimals and take a short quiz over this on Wednesday. We will then start dividing decimals. This is a difficult concept so we will continue working on this for the rest of next week as well. In ELA we will start editing our NaNoWriMo stories and look at Nonfiction Text Structure. Students will also wrap up their Snowmen Interviews and Dear Basketball writing projects this week. Spelling assignments are due Wednesday and Friday, with Friday being the day of their spelling tests.

Valentine's Day
On Friday, February 14th our homerooms will be celebrating Valentine's Day during the Social Studies/Science block. Students are welcome to bring valentines for their classmates. They must just be school appropriate valentines and if they include food, peanut-free. Also please make sure that if your child brings one valentine they should bring enough for each student in the class. I will send a roster of names home in Wednesday folders so you know who to address valentines to. If you would like to send in a small snack for that day, please let me know. We would love that! :)
