A Moment with Dr. Bartee
Greetings Laurel High School CTE Scholars:
This is Dr. Yvette Bartee from the “Counselor’s Corner”. As your new counselor, I want you to understand that you are the ones with the bright and audacious minds that will change this world in ways unimaginable. You have within you the gifts, talents, and abilities to get the job done but you must believe in yourself, apply yourself, and persevere to see the outcome of your hard work. Career and Technical Education prepares you for so many career opportunities beyond belief, as well as prepares you to be college and career ready.
As your counselor, I will leave these words of the late former president of Morehouse College, Dr. Benjamin E. Mays and they read as follows: “I’ve only just a minute, only sixty seconds in it. Forced upon me, can’t refuse it, didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it, but it’s up to me to use it. I must suffer if I lose it, give an account if I abuse it, just a tiny little minute, but eternity is in it.”
So every minute counts and it is up to you, “CTE Scholars”, to persevere, work hard, and go out into the world and make it a better place. I am here to support you, help you to become college and career ready, and provide you with the tools and strategies to become productive citizens!
