NEWS FROM THE HEADS
As with all staff teams there are leavers and joiners. The joiners I will write about at the start of next term, but as for our leavers: our most long serving (and if I may say revered colleague) is Mrs Ann Pitt. Ann has been a teacher at Claires Court (both SB & SG sites) on and off for 33 years, and was Head Teacher at Senior Girls from 1996 - 2004. She has tried to retire before but just couldn't stay away from us but is finally retiring again! Ann's dedication to her all those that she taught has always been outstanding and she will be sorely missed. In the Junior Department, Mrs Fleet, Classroom Assistant, is also retiring and many a senior pupil will remember the help and support she gave them as she has been with us for 17 years! Mrs Bintcliffe, who was at Junior Boys for many years and came back out of retirement to work in Lower Junior Girls is also retiring again!! To all these ladies we say 'enjoy your retirement... and see you soon!'
Back to the Senior Department: Mrs El Masarany, Science Department, is off, with her family, to start a new adventure by going to teach in Egypt. Mrs Rina Dharsi, Art & Textiles teacher, who returned to us after her two children were born, has left again following the birth of her third child, a little girl, on Wednesday 9 July - congratulations to Rina and her family! Ms Karen Drennan, Learning Support, is returning home to her family in South Africa, and she assures us she wants to stay working in education! Mrs Lorna Huggins, our Personnel Officer, is now off on maternity leave and we send her our best wishes in her new role! And finally, Miss Camilla Selby (Geography) and Mrs Sharon Pepin (PE) are moving on to pastures new - we thank them for their work with the girls and wish them well too. read more >>>
As a department, we have accomplished many things and the girls have achieved great results in all areas of the curriculum. This year has seen many ‘firsts’ including LAMDA, Football Club, Cricket Club, the Talent Show, a joint Hockey and Rugby Tour and a fantastic array of events, concluding with our Prize Giving in which the girls performed superbly..... read more >>>
Another year draws to a close and it has been a wonderful one. Our EYFS vision to provide an environment that is Stimulating and safe, Tactile and creative, Active and physical, Real and relevant, enabling our children to Shine as independent, successful STARS seems to have produced just that!.....read more >>>
IMPORTANT NOTICES
END OF TERM MAILING
The mailing will travel home with all pupils today. Please be sure to return the Report acknowledgement slip on the first day of term and check through the information now rather that the other end of the holidays, to ensure you are up to speed with coach bookings etc. And, of course, you will want to read your daughter's school report! All families from Reception to Year 9 will receive a copy of Scribblings today, which is a celebration of the poetry of junior and senior authors.
THANK YOU TO OUR PTA who have worked hard this year, as always, fundraising for the benefit of our girls - evident most recently by their generous donation of medals for our Sports Days, prizes for our Junior Prize Giving, Year Book for Year 6 and the many academic departments which have also benefitted from their fundraising. Mrs Louise Johnson, together with her fantastic team, organised a multitude of fundraising events and uniform sales throughout the year. To all you wonderful helpers, thank you and enjoy the summer break!
