A Note From the Principal
Our 2022-2023 school year is off to a fabulous start! Our faculty and staff have been preparing all summer for our students. Our school is alive with positive energy and excitement! We appreciate the ongoing support from our Wabash Community.
This year, we will continue to focus on The Wabash Way - Being Respectful, Responsible, Caring and Safe! Please discuss these important character traits with your children. Our students are excited to show excellence on a daily basis. I am proud to report that our students are striving for excellence. Together, teachers and parents will challenge our students to work to their full potential. I know our students are up to the challenge!
I have just a few reminders to share with everyone:
1) Students should not have their cell phones on their person while on campus. All cell phones should be in bookbags. Cell phones and smart watches should not be creating disturbances in our classrooms.
2) Please remember that staff are not on outside duty until 8:20 am. Students should not be dropped off or released from cars without a parent until staff are outside at their stations at 8:20 am.
3) For students who walk or ride bikes/scooters to school, please help them set an appropriate time to leave the house in the morning. Students should not get to the main crosswalk until AFTER 8:20 am. The main crosswalk on Golden Gate is unsupervised prior to 8:20 am.
Please remember that Mrs. Naumann, Mrs. Polman and I are always available to support you and your children. Please do not hesitate to stop in, call or email us with any questions or concerns. We are here for your children.
Go Ducks!
Mr. Schulte
HEATHER GOT MARRIED OVER THE SUMMER!
With the marriage comes a new last name and email. Please make note of these changes. She is now Heather Naumann and her new email is heathernaumann@wsdr4.org.
Congratulations to our Summer Readers who completed one of the Summer Challenges! We have over 90 students who completed the St. Charles Library Summer Challenge or the Wabash Beanstack Summer Challenge! These students will be bringing home their prize soon.
We are so excited to have your student start checking out Wabash library books again! Please help your student take care of their library book(s) by keeping them away from food and drink, pets, water bottles, and younger siblings. Your child will come to the library with their class every 5 days of school. Please help them be responsible and return their books on time. Please let Mrs. Collins know if you have any library questions. meghancollins@wsdr4.org.

Welcome back Ducks! We have had an amazing start to the new school year and have loved seeing your smiling faces in the halls. We would like to introduce you to one new staff member and a few already experienced Wabash staff members!
Meet your 3-5 Counselor
Hello! My name is Kristen Patterson and I am SO excited to be your new 3-5 grade counselor at Wabash Elementary School. As the 3-5 grade counselor, I will be working with students in a variety of ways. You will find me teaching classroom lessons that support students in their academics as well as their social/emotional skills, as well as meeting with students individually that may need support with school, home or friendship concerns. I will also be offering small group counseling support for students who have common challenges and goals they are working towards based on specific life events or experiences.
I have been in the field of education for 8 years. I spent 6 years as a classroom teacher (two years as a 5th grade teacher and four years as a 4th grade teacher). Last year I was a counselor in a nearby district and had the opportunity to teach social emotional lessons to students K-5. I am married to my husband Travis and we have two dogs, Ellie and Phoebe. We love to spend time with family and friends. My favorite thing to do in my free time is read.
I look forward to working with you and your kids this year at Wabash. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Educational Support Counselor
Erin Magee will continue working with all grade levels at Wabash. She can support students in a spectrum of ways, ranging from helping students cope with everyday stressors, preventative check-in’s, assessment check-in’s, all the way to providing short term interventions on a more consistent basis to see if we can work towards coping better with whatever struggles are present. This also allows her the opportunity to get to know the student and offer resources and referrals for more intensive support services, as needed.

We are all here to support your student however we are able! Please feel free to reach out to any of us if there are any questions or concerns.
Programs available to our Wabash Families
We have a variety of programs to support students and their families throughout the school year.
Operation Backpack: A weekend nutrition program sponsored by Peine Ridge Church in Wentzville which provides a bag of food items to support student nutrition on the weekends. Please contact Kristen Patterson at 636-887-3884 ext 50240 if you are interested in receiving this support for your child.
Operation Warm: Wentzville School District values relationships with our community and we want to support all families that are within our district and find themselves sometimes in need of assistance. Soon we will provide warm winter coats to those students of families that may reach out to us requesting support.
Holiday Assistance: Wentzville School District works with community organizations to help our families who may benefit from gift donations during the holiday season. Please contact a counselor if you feel this program will assist you.

LATE START SUPERVISION
The WSD will once again be providing supervision for K-6 students who need to be dropped off at the regular start time on scheduled Late Start Days in the 2022-2023 school year. This is separate from our Before Care Program through Chautauqua, so if you are registered for Chautauqua, please DO NOT register for Late Start Supervision.
The fee is $10 per child for each late start day you would like to register for. Please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM first prior to paying. If you choose to use PayPal, there is a sliding scale charge assessed to cover processing costs. You also have the option to send a check in to your child's school. In order to arrange for adequate staffing, you must register and pay before the deadline for each late start day (deadline is one week prior to each late start). You may also register for all late start dates one time by choosing the dates you need in the registration form.
