Dear D6 Families,

As many of you know, the IDPH has adopted CDC's most recent update to their guidance. The biggest change to this guidance is the shortened quarantine time from 10 days to 5 days. Throughout today and tomorrow, building nurses will be contacting families with their student's new return date and the requirements for an earlier return. Please wait until you speak with the nurse before sending your student back.

Updated Guidance

COVID-19 Positive

  • Students that test positive for COVID-19 will quarantine for 5 days.
  • Vaccination status does not affect your quarantine time.
  • To return after 5-days, you should be fever free for 24-hours and symptoms should be improving. This does not mean you have to be symptom free.
  • For the 5 days following your return, you must be 6 feet from anyone while unmasked. This includes breakfast and lunchtime.
  • Some schools do not have the space for all students to be 6 feet apart and therefore, students returning after the five days will eat in a separate lunch room where they are able to socially distance the required 6 feet.

Close Contacts

  • Students that are identified as close contacts, outside of the school setting, will quarantine for 5-days.
  • If you are unable to isolate from the COVID-19 positive person you will quarantine for 10-days.
  • Students who are close contacts at school can participate in the TTS program or quarantine for 5 days. Our TTS program has been updated to reflect the new guidance as well.

***Students that are vaccinated will not need to quarantine if exposed to a COVID-19 positive person UNLESS they become symptomatic.

Guidance For Sports

For students who are returning after a 5-day quarantine

  • Masks must be worn 100% of the time during practices (this is already the expectation)
  • Student will not be able to participate in competitions until after a full 10 days as the 5 day quarantine does not apply in this situation.
