Welcome!
Back to School - Tuesday, August 14 #CMSPride
Hello!
I taught at Anthony Middle School in Manhattan for 13 years before being hired last spring by USD 333 as an assistant principal and junior high athletic director. Prior to that I was a teacher and coach at Clay Center Middle School, so I am familiar with the area and schools in the NCKL.
One of my main goals this year is to maintain the high level of communication with students and parents as we have in the past. I also hope to continue to develop the welcoming and safe atmosphere that is already provided at CMS. Let us know anytime you have questions, or need help with anything regarding your child's education.
Larry Myers, CMS Principal
Parent Orientation/Meet and Greet: Friday, August 10
First Day of School Tuesday, August 14
Hutch's Holler
For 5th and 6th graders, he will be teaching weekly guidance lessons. The classroom guidance curriculum will involve lessons on social and emotional development, bullying, academic development, and career exploration. Brandt will also do group and individual counseling with 5th and 6th graders. Parents will be emailed a form they can complete in order to have their child in group or individual counseling. Some examples of group counseling could be anxiety, change of family, social skills, grief, and anger management. He is also wanting to start separate leadership groups for 6th grade boys and girls.
New Faces
Kaylee Mosher
Hello! My name is Kaylee Mosher and I will be a 5th grade teacher during the 2018-19 school year. I am a first year teacher but have been with USD 333 for the past 3 years in other roles. A few fun facts about myself are that I am a Concordia alumni, I got my teaching degree from Fort Hays State University, and I am getting married this fall to my fiancé, Kyle Bogart! I am excited to meet and work with all of the students and staff at CMS!
Shannon James
My name is Shannon James and I am very excited to be teaching 6th grade social studies this year at CMS! This will be my first year teaching. I graduated in December from Fort Hays University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I was raised and have lived in Beloit for most of my life. I recently got married on July 4th and I have two daughters, ages 15 and 17. In my spare time I enjoy reading, kayaking and spending time with my family. We will be studying the areas of World Geography; Ancient Civilizations (which include Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Americas, Mayas, Greece, Rome); Current Events; Rights, Responsibilities and Consequences of Choices and Volunteerism. This year is going to be an explosion of learning for both the students and myself! There will be many hands-on activities that coincide with the lessons as well. I am so excited to be teaching your child and cannot wait to get to know him/her!
Switching Roles
JoDee Rothfuss will be moving from 6th grade to technology at CES and CMS. Finally, Tawni Retter moved from 5th grade at CMS to the Libraries at CES and CMS.
All of these educators bring tons of experience and enthusiasm to their new roles!
