Superintendent Conversations With The District

Austin ISD staff, families and community members are invited to join Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde, Ed.D. and district leadership for a series of virtual Conversations with the District. These sessions will be an opportunity to meet Dr. Elizalde and her leadership team and to learn more about the AISD 2020-25 Strategic Plan and 2021-22 budget process. We look forward to visiting with you!

Participants can choose which event to attend based on their school’s Vertical Team or feeder high school to create space for conversation specific to each family of schools. Staff conversations will take place from 4:30–5:30 p.m. and conversations for families and community members will take place from 5:30–6:30 p.m.

Bowie Vertical Team: 3/31 at 5:30 pm.

Returning to in-person learning?

We created the videos below at the beginning of the year to help our Comets. Since new families are moving into our community and others are switching from remote learning to in-person learning, we wanted to share them again.

AISD Survey about Registration

AISD sent a survey on Monday, March 8, 2021. The invitation emails were sent to parents’ primary email addresses. The survey is set to close on Friday, April 30, 2021. This is a short survey to help AISD predict registration numbers. It does not count as registration; please see the section below regarding registration.
Big picture

What will next school year look like?

At this time, Austin ISD is awaiting information on the 2021-2022 school year requirements from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). We know that on-campus learning will be an option available to families next year, just as it is this year. AISD safety protocols will align with the Center for Disease Control and Austin Public Health. AISD also shared that there will be a hybrid/remote option for 2021-2022.

We realize you’re eager for information, and we will communicate more with our families when we receive guidance from TEA.

Please Complete Your Online Registration

The district has opened registration for the 2021-2022 school year. Things to note:

1) The information you enter drives our systems for data such as your email address, phone number, etc. Please double check that all items are up to date. Once you complete the registration process, it cannot be updated/corrected without sending an email to our registrar Amy McGovern. This includes opting in or out of campus messages. We get many emails from families wondering why they are not receiving Kiker email blasts. This is based on preferences checked in the registration process.

2) Check the boxes carefully for permission to be in the yearbook or be photographed.

3) Registration in AISD is a multi-step process. AISD will conduct various phases including 'commitment cards, online registration, and emails/surveys. All of these items affect our staffing allocations for next year. It is so important to our campus that we get everyone to complete online registration so we can keep and maintain our amazing staff!

4) Parents who are registering a new Pre-K or Kinder student will need to have the following documents on hand to upload.

  • birth certificate
  • immunization record
  • current utility bill - electric, water, or gas
  • lease or closing paperwork for your new home
  • parent driver's license
