Great Week!

It is hard to believe but we are already through the first quarter of the school year! We were happy to have our students back this week! Thank you for all your help over the past few weeks with virtual learning. Our teachers and students are the best! Thank you for all your efforts to make this as positive as possible for all of our kids! We definitely are #bettertogether

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Halloween!

Jaguar Shoutouts!

Congratulations to our students that received Positive Shoutouts over the past few weeks! We are proud of you! Our staff at Jefferson is always looking to recognize our students for kind, helpful and fantastic behavior. All students that earn a positive shout out will be recognized on the announcements on Fridays and their shout out will hang on a bulletin board outside of the office.

Spotlight on 2nd grade

Our 2nd grade Jaguars have been working hard over the past few weeks! Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Mosnik's classes have been busy! They have been learning about root words and adding the suffixes ing, ed, s, es, etc. They have completed a readers theatre "I Need My Monster!" as well as reading the story, Taking Care of Pepper. In this story the students learned about how animals need our care. In math, they have been busy counting up to 1,000 using ones, tens, and hundreds as well as writing base ten 3-digit numbers and showing the value of each digit. They can write and read base ten number words and even write base ten numbers in expanded form!

Another area that the 2nd grade classes focused on was remote learning etiquette. This helped them become familiar with online routines and procedures.

Keep up the good work 2nd grade!

Picture Day Retakes for Brick and Mortar/Remote Learner Picture Day

Picture retake day will be on Thursday, November 12th. This will also be the day that our remote learners will come to school to take their pictures. For our remote learners, we are asking that you come to Jefferson between 3:00 pm and 5:45 pm on November 12th. We will have you pull up to the front of the school and have your child come inside with a staff member, while you wait in the car. Pictures will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. We will not be able to take any pictures after 5:45 pm. We cannot anticipate what the wait time will be, however, we will have a system set up to make sure that the process will run as smooth as possible. Thanks in advance for your patience and cooperation with this.

Brick and mortar students will be taking pictures during the regular school day hours. They will get paper forms to fill out if they missed picture day. If you are not satisfied with the pictures you received, you can return the complete picture packet in order to get a retake. Remote learners can print the form from the website and bring it with you on the November 12th in a sealed envelope. If you would like to order online, you can do so at INTER-STATE.COM/ORDER. You will need to use the Jefferson code: 54275YA.

If you have any questions about pictures, please call the office.

Third Grade AIR Testing

Next Tuesday 11-3 and Thursday 11-5, our third grade students will be taking the Ohio AIR Test. Please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep and has a good breakfast on these days. Virtual learners will be taking the test at the board office and will be notified by their teacher as to the day and times.

Free and Reduced Lunch Meal Applications

If you feel that you would qualify for the free/reduced meal program, you will still need to complete the form. Although all students are receiving free meals at this time, the district is requiring those that qualify to complete the form. This is for brick and mortar students as well as remote learning students. If you have any questions, please call the office.

Today was an action packed day. We started our day with our ALICE safety drill and ended our day with a Halloween celebration. Our students engaged in a level yellow drill which is also referred to as a "shelter in place." Our students did an awesome job following the rules and listening to directions. Check out some of our Halloween pictures from throughout the day!
