In just over 2 weeks CASC 3rd-8th graders will meet around the state for SC Ready testing. Our 3rd through 8th grade Herons will be traveling to 10 locations around the state to take these state mandated standardized tests. As a reminder these tests will be administered in person but will be taken on a computer.

Learning Coaches please make sure that you reach out to your homeroom teacher if you have any questions. It will be important that you begin making and confirming accommodations for the days of testing.

Please see the links below for more information about upcoming testing for CASC students. These links contain information as well as sample questions for students to familiarize themselves with the format.

Information about the Tests:

SC Ready - Grades 3rd-8th- April 26th -28th

SCPASS - Grades 4th-8th- May 11th-12th

CASC Takes Home Outstanding Leadership Award for Beta Club

Last week 3 members of CASC Beta Club attended a leadership retreat that Beta Club held. During that retreat CASC was honored with the Outstanding Leadership Award for both of our HS and Middle School clubs. Mayme M., CASC Beta Club President, with Avery F. and Bryan F. accepted the Outstanding Leadership Awards for CASC in Jekyll Island, GA for the Beta Club National Leadership Event.

Cyber Academy hosted a table at the Imagine Upstate Festival last weekend in Greenville, SC! We met many excited STEAM students during the event as well as many Herons. Some Herons even jumped in to lend a hand.

We had Scribble Bots and Catapults for students to explore. Check out the directions below if you'd like to join in on the fun!

Cyber Academy has been fortunate to secure some seats to giveaway for the upcoming Charleston Riverdogs’ Education day on April 13th. Please see the survey below for more information and to sign up for a chance to get FREE tickets to the 11:05 am game!

We only have a few tickets left! Families who have gotten tickets will receive an email at the beginning of next week with more specific details.

Capitol Day - April 19th

We are getting very excited about our upcoming Capitol Day outing! We hope to see a lot of you out there! Don't forget to bring signs!!!

Capitol Day is all about families coming together to celebrate the choice that we all have in education with fellow Herons (families and staff) as well as other supporters from all around SC. This is such a wonderful event and celebration of the educational choice. Please check out the website below for more information and to RSVP!

We will be starting off at the old Sheraton Columbia Downtown hotel bank. There will be free tee shirts given away starting at 9:30am during check in. They will also have materials for kids to make signs, but feel free to bring your own. The rally at the capitol will begin around 11:30 am on the South Steps of the state house. Lunch will be served. Once you RSVP more information will be sent.

Scholastic Warehouse Events- Columbia and Greenville in May

Are you looking for some GREAT books at low prices? Then you want to check out the Scholastic Warehouse events that are happening in Columbia and Greenville in May. You must have an invite to get in. Here is the link to get a “ticket” for the event. Book selection is big and prices are pretty low. Start collecting for this summer’s reading.


Our learning labs around the state are filling up. Facilitators are offering support for students who have non mastered lessons and assignments that they are struggling with. Have you set up your appointment yet? The end of the year will be here before we know it. Now is the time to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Lee B.

Lee has been working so hard on his reading. Recently he had to stand up and read for his congregation and did a fabulous job. We are so proud of Lee for working on his reading skills and having the confidence to share his ability with a large group of people. Way to go Lee!

Mayme M.

Mayme M, CASC Class of 2017, named a Wofford Scholar!
Scholarship amount to be named in November 2016.
We are so proud as she maintains a solid 4.87 GPA!!

Nomination requirements:

Each student should rank in the top 10% of the class and score at least 1250 on PSAT or SAT, or 28 on PLAN or ACT.

FAST HS Contest:

Contest leaders:

A. Lewis-Spann – now passing ALL courses and no longer behind in classes. Successfully returned to Tier 1 on 4/5

T. Mason – Now passing and caught up completely in 3 courses and excited to reach goal of passing all! He’s going strong.

K. Dawkins – Now passing and caught up completely in 3 courses and thinks she’ll have more than that by this Friday.

Honorable mentions:

M. Boswell, S. Lawrence, H. Scott – All working and continuing to show positive progress! They have some courses that are passing grades and caught up completely and getting closer and closer to increasing that each week. They are certainly working hard and expected to continue moving toward Tier 1 soon!
