News from Lions Park School
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
We hope your children have settled back into the school routine after the Thanksgiving break. We have been happy to have them back. This time of the year is filled with lots of learning and many fun and exciting experiences inside and outside of school.
Most classes are in their next unit of study for the new writing program. It is exciting to see our students viewing themselves as real writers and developing their craft. It is amazing how much their volume of writing and writing stamina time has increased in just a few short months. The teachers work very hard to prepare for each lesson using our new Teachers College of Reading and Writing Project Units of Study, but they are rewarded and inspired by the growth they see in your children.
We will be treated to a performance by the Lincoln band on Monday morning. This is a wonderful opportunity to get our younger students thinking about playing an instrument in the future and it can encourage our fifth graders to continue to practice their instruments. On December 18th, we will be having local authors, Laura Dershewitz and Susan Romberg (Lions Park parent!) visit and talk with all students. On December 20th, students will be treated to an assembly, The Pro-Kids Show, courtesy of the PTO.
During this time of excitement, we will do our best to maintain many of our school routines. It can be helpful to also do this at home as much as possible. We know it is not easy with shopping, parties, concerts and other festive events, but it can help students to stay focused on learning and feeling happy and safe.
