Polio virus (Poliomyelitis)
There is currently no cure for polio. Since there is no treatment, people focus on providing relief of the symptoms as the body fights the polio virus. Polio can only be prevented with the vaccine. Many people with polio have flu-like symptoms and stiffness in the neck and back. Rare cases people have loss of reflexes and loose and floppy limbs, often worse on one side of the body.
