Pirates of the Month
Lubbock-Cooper Cares
In January, North Elementary was challenged to help "fill the buckets" of our local frontline Covid healthcare providers. So we started an "adopt a frontline healthcare provider" initiative, where our students and staff thought of ways they could help lift up these workers and provide a ray of sunshine into their lives. Each classroom and various staff were assigned one healthcare provider, which totaled over 50.
Our students and staff really took this initiative and ran with it, sending heartfelt letters of encouragement, goodie bags filled with treats, and creating videos showing thanks!
Below is a picture of North students getting the goodie bags ready for delivery to the healthcare providers.
Cystic Fibrosis Coin Fundraiser
North Families,
North Elementary Student Council is hosting a Cystic Fibrosis coin fundraiser from March 1 - March 5. Each student will be sent home with a way to collect coins as well as an information page. The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party and cupcakes. 2nd and 3rd place will get a cupcake party. Each day, Student Council will come by and pick up coins collected and announce totals donated each morning.
1 in every 35 people is a symptomless carrier, so even if you don't know of someone personally that has Cystic Fibrosis, you or someone you know could be a carrier. Your coins will help those with Cystic Fibrosis that need life-saving treatments. Every penny helps!
The website for the CF Foundation is www.cff.org. Also, here is a BrainPOP video that has helpful information as well.

Teachers on the Rise - Mrs. Green
Congratulations to North Elementary teacher Tammy Green for being selected as Mrs. Baird’s Teacher on the Rise award winner for February 2021. Mrs. Green was nominated by North student Emily Anderson and her mother for the outstanding influence she provides while teaching her students. Mrs. Green is in her first year at North Elementary and teaches second grade.
Mrs. Baird’s representatives presented Mrs. Green with an array of gift cards, as well as an award certificate earlier this month.
