Macleans Primary School Community
Hello Everyone
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2024. I trust we all had an enjoyable Waitangi Day Holiday yesterday. It sure was nice to have a day with family and friends, especially with such glorious NZ weather!
This newsletter contains lots of information, so please have a good read! One item that I draw your attention to is the 'Phones Away for the Day' Government mandate from Term 2 2024. See the letter further down in this newsletter from Presiding Board member Nick Engelmann as we seek your feedback directly on this policy. Other policies and procedures typically gather feedback through School Docs (for those of you new to School Docs, more in the next newsletter). I also draw your attention to two events over the next two days:
- Tomorrow, Thursday 8 February is the family picnic at 5.30 followed by Meet the Teacher at 6.15.
- Friday 9 February is our Chinese/Lunar New Year morning tea at 11am in the staffroom. At 11.30 the classrooms will be open for all visitors to enjoy and support the students as they get involved in Chinese and Lunar New Year craft and cultural activities.
We look forward to seeing many Macleans Primary School families and community over the next two days. Enjoy the newsletter :)
Regards - Matthew Cooke

Family Picnic & Meet The Teacher 2MORO 8 Feb. from 5.30
Picnic & Meet The Teacher TOMORROW from 5.30pm (if poor weather Meet The Teacher Only at 6.15pm)
We hope to see many parents and families at the Picnic and Meet The Teacher on Thursday 8 February. 5.30 picnic and then at 6.15 to classes for Meet The Teacher. Bring the kids and your own takeaways (or whatever you may like!) and dine in style and comfort on the school field! If the weather is poor then the picnic will not go ahead and Meet The Teacher will start at 6.15 until approximately 7pm. If you have children in 2 or more different classes please spread yourself between classes as needed; teachers will be aware of this :). Teachers will talk through 'BigPicture' for the year: homework, curriculum areas, day organisation and EOTC/Camp Programmes (EOTC = Education Outside the Classroom), and more! We look forward to seeing many families at the Meet the Teacher and Picnic.
