FALL SPORTS: SEASON-IN-REVIEW
The Patriots had one of the best Fall seasons in our 20-year school history, with our teams winning three of the eight available PCL championships. Beckman brought home the league hardware in Boys Cross Country, Boys Water Polo as well as Girls Volleyball. Congratulations to those programs!
The teams that didn't win league titles still did extremely well. In it's inaugural year, Girls Flag Football finished 3rd in the Pacific Coast League with an overall record of 13-5-1 against a strong list of opponents. Girls Tennis also finished 3rd in the extremely tough PCL, ultimately losing in the playoffs to the eventual Division 1 Championship team, Aliso Niguel. Although our Girls Golf team did not get a playoff bid, they also finished 3rd in a tremendously strong PCL line up. Beckman Football finished 2nd in league, and eventually lost in the CIF Quarterfinals to Finalist, West Covina.
We had two Fall Sports programs that had noteworthy post-season results. Boys Cross Country finished 5th overall in the CIF-SS Division 1 Championships, and went on to finish 8th overall at the CIF State Championships in Clovis. Our very own Ibzan Felix ran the three-mile course in 13:56 at the Pacific Coast League Finals and was the League MVP. Our Girls Volleyball program had an incredible run as well - Winning the CIF-SS Division 3 Championship, played at Cerritos College, and getting to the 2nd round of the Division 1 State Playoffs.
I'm proud of all of our Fall programs for how well they represented Beckman High School, and would like to extend a big thank you to all of our Fall Coaches!

Winter Sports: Early Season Check In
Both our Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams had an exciting Turkey Week where they traveled to Hawaii to play in a tournament. While their friends were hanging out at home, the Basketball teams were playing high level competition from the islands, enjoying a Luau, and other fun team activities. The Boys team was extremely competitive in their two losses and had a convincing win in their third game of the tournament. Our Girls team was dominant in their tournament, going 3-0, and beating Kamehameha to win the tournament title.
As we move to the mat, our Wrestling program has been busy with competitions the past few weeks. All of our wrestlers have competed in tournaments, some non-league duals, and a PCL Dual competition. With very few home matches, your best chance to see our Wrestling team in the Beckman Gym is January 10th against Laguna Hills.
We've got one team that plays in the water during Winter Season - our Girls Water Polo program. They've only had a few contests thus far, but have been competitive against both Santa Margarita and Huntington Beach. They're poised to have a great year.
Finally, we have our Girls & Boys Soccer programs that have played a multitude of Division 1 and 2 opponents to begin the season. Between the two programs, we've gotten some early wins against Dana Hills, Laguna Beach and Tustin while losing matches to Mater Dei, Aliso Niguel and CDM.
Outside of Wrestling, our other Winter Sports will have all of their league contests during the month of January. Regular season games finish up on Feb. 1 and playoffs will commence the week of February 5th. Please come out and support our Winter Sports teams!
BHS Alum Thoerner is now running with the Anteaters!
Reminder: Ticket Purchasing
Pacific Coast League ticket pricing is $10 for General Admission and $5 for Students/Children/Seniors. For those that purchase the ASB decal for the 23-24 school year, you still get into to all BHS Home games (Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Wrestling) for Free, excluding playoff games.
** Any athlete leaving school before the end of the school day must get signed out in the attendance office by their parent. Letting the athlete's coach know is important, but doesn't excuse the absence or approve the athlete to leave campus.
