Rhino Weekly Connection
1.30.23
Note from Interim Principal Mrs. Smetzer!
Wow, it's cold today! Thank you for sending your kiddo to school with all of the appropriate winter gear on these super freezing days. We are hopeful that we will have outside recess again tomorrow - temps are warming up to a high of 28 for Tuesday!
We had spectacular decrease in tardies this week! It was evident that families made an intentional effort to be here on time after the messages from last week. Thank you! It makes such a difference.
You will be receiving an invite this weekend, from Help at Schools, to sign up for spring conferences, which will be held in the middle of February. This is such an important communication between teachers and families to celebrate all of our kids' great successes and to talk through any questions and wonderings. We appreciate you prioritizing this time to meet with your child's teacher.
In this week's update you will find:
- Class photos details
- No school 2/6
- Spring conferences information
- Trivia night details
- Garden to table information
- PTA update
- Centaurus cheer clinic details
- Other important reminders
Go Rhinos!
Kristen Smetzer
Immediate Volunteer Needs
- Class Picture Day is Friday, February 3rd from 8:00-2:30
- Vision and Hearing Screening is Wednesday, Feb 1st from 9:45-1:00
Did you know...
that being just 5 minutes late to school everyday is equivalent to missing 10 full days of school per year!
Thank you for your efforts last week! We saw a huge improvement with Tardies! Keep up the good work!
The first bell rings at 7:47AM (8:47 on Wednesdays), The tardy bell rings at 7:50AM (8:50 on Wednesdays). If a student arrives after 7:50AM, they are tardy and need to check in at the Office.
Please get your student to school on time, also let us know if you need support or if there is anyway we can help.

We Are Looking for Donations for Our Upcoming Trivia Night Silent Auction!
DO YOU HAVE AN ITEM OR SERVICE YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE FOR THE AUCTION? If you or someone you know has a special item or talent that you would like to share, please contact Francie Wojcik at francescwojcik@gmail.com OR drop your donation off in the Ryan office. (Be sure to let the office know the donation is for the Silent Auction and leave your contact information so we can thank you!) Check out the Auction site at MemberHub to see examples of Silent Auction items already received—new items being added all the time! The online Auction will go live on February 25.
DONATION POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS! Ideas include:
- Experiences: behind the scenes tour, mini-vacation, sporting or performance tickets (Have season tickets to the Rockies and know you’ll be out of town for a game? Add them to the auction! Nana and Grandad have a ski condo in Winter Park? Your Ryan friends would LOVE to stay there!)
- Beautiful Items: wine, themed baskets (movie night, game night, crafts), art, jewelry, pottery

- Self-Care Services: nail services, hair styling, massages, facials

Donating your services or products for the auction can be a great way to get the word out to the Ryan community about your business or talents while helping to support Ryan students. The PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so donations are fully tax deductible as allowed by law. All proceeds from the auction and the Trivia Night event benefit our students through supplies, activities, field trips, and other education opportunities. Thanks so much for considering!
Garden to Table
Despite all of this snow, it's the season where we start thinking about planting lettuce in the greenhouse for Spring lessons! We'd love to have your help and support in planting lettuce on Saturday January 28th from 1pm-3pm at the Boulder Valley School District Greenhouse (6600 Arapahoe Road). The greenhouse can be a little tricky to find, so please feel free to call Courtlyn at (970) 433-1305 if you get lost on the way.
This will be an opportunity to meet our team, help ensure success at your school gardens this year, and just have a fun time. Families are absolutely welcome to join!
If you're interested in attending, please RSVP to Courtlyn at courtlyn@gardentotable.org OR (970) 433-1305.
